Fans are convinced they know who lies behind the mask

The Masked Singer fans have slammed the “ridiculous” guesses about who the famous face really is under the Artic Fox costume, claiming there’s undeniable evidence pointing to their identity.

A brand new season of ITV’s The Masked Singer has returned to screens with a new line-up of celebrities who take to the stage to perform well known hits.

But there’s a catch, as their true identities are hidden as they dress up in random and elaborate costumes, never revealing who they really are until they are eliminated. Instead, they give out clues before, during and after their performance.

The popular show returned to ITV tonight (January 10) with a sports day-themed special instalment as host Joel Dommett introduced the judging panel of Jonathan Ross, Maya Jama, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan.

They were also joined by special guest Freddie Flintoff as they tried to guess who could be hidden under the costumes. Viewers at home also attempted to figure out who the famous faces really are.

But one performance from Arctic Fox in particular left fans fuming. Despite viewers at home believing the real identity could be Strictly legend Anton du Beke, the judges did not agree, instead guessing other familiar names.

Taking to social media, fans slammed their “ridiculous” choices. One person said: “Arctic Fox is absolutely Anton du Beke. Forget the clues, and the performance, just look at how he’s stood afterwards with his legs together and arms out wide. It’s 100% him. I’d bet my dog on it.”

Another wrote: “Arctic Fox is Anton Du Beke and the judges are ridiculous for not knowing that.” A third added: “Why are the panel not saying it’s Anton Du Beke, because it so obviously is.”

A fourth replied: “The fact it’s not Anton Du Beke across the panel is embarrassing I thought these guys were supposed to be good at this?”

Another commented: “You can literally hear Anton’s accent in his singing voice. As a Strictly fan of 15 years I know that voice from a mile off.”

One person guessed: “Artic fox is absolutely Anton from Strictly. I’ve heard him sing several times and it’s definitely him. Add in the hand/arm movements.”

It’s not the first time fans have brought up Anton de Beke’s name, with this week further cementing the idea the Strictly legend is behind the mask. This week saw Arctic Fox go through to the next stage as they avoided elimination.

The Masked Singer can be streamed on ITVX.
