The Traitors star Fiona Hughes, who was exposed as the show’s Secret Traitor and banished from the game, has addressed her fans
The Traitors sensation Fiona Hughes has expressed her gratitude to fans for their overwhelming affection and backing following her shocking betrayal of fellow Traitor Rachel in explosive scenes.
The pair had been operating as a deadly duo throughout the series, but their alliance came crashing down spectacularly when the Welsh competitor accused Rachel of being dishonest. The dramatic confrontation has been hailed as one of the most jaw-dropping bust-ups in the BBC programme’s history.
Fiona, who had managed to stay relatively under the radar during her time on the show, suddenly catapulted herself into the limelight with her audacious double-cross. However, the bold gamble backfired during Friday night’s nail-biting episode when she was voted out of the competition, reports Wales Online.
Refusing to let the setback dampen her spirits, Fiona posted on Instagram on Saturday (January 10) from the picturesque setting of Swansea Bay, her signature hairstyle perfectly styled despite the seaside breeze.
Bundled up against the chilly weather, she delivered a touching message to her followers, saying: “A big hello from me at Swansea Bay, what a glorious day, lots of people down here enjoying our wonderful coastline. I just wanted to touch base with you all to say a massive, massive thank you for all your help, all your love and all your support.
“It has is meant a lot to me. Thank you so much. Love to everybody. Cheerio.”
Supporters immediately inundated the comments section with adoration. One enthused: “My girlfriend and I are the biggest fans of you and we will miss you in the upcoming episodes. You are our winner.”
Another declared: “We all thank you for gracing our screens, you are an icon.” A third penned: “Ti’n seren… a Traitor da! Gwych. Well done you Fiona.”
Earlier this week, it was revealed that the council employee had been operating as the show’s Secret Traitor – an innovative plot device that concealed her genuine allegiance from both participants and viewers throughout.
Fiona became the second Traitor to be exposed by the Faithfuls and eliminated during the dramatic Round Table discussion – a destiny she has taken ownership of, admitting in her departure chat that she engineered her own “downfall”.
Despite the fiery televised confrontation, Rachel posted on Instagram celebrating Fiona as a “legend”, uploading what appears to be an artificially created picture showing Fiona as Little Red Riding Hood with herself portrayed as the predatory wolf. Her message stated: “Fiona you absolute legend. Talk about making a game so much fun.
“A little minx of a Secret Traitor and a lady who reminded us all that this is a game.”
The Traitors continues on Wednesday night (January 14) at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer. For the latest showbiz, TV, movie and streaming news, go to the new **Everything Gossip** website.
