Helen Flanagan has written about the moment she decided not to join a popular adult site or either of its subsidiaries after a meeting convinced her not to go forward with that potential career path

Actress Helen Flanagan has opened up on how a potential opportunity felt “too grim” for her after talking to the owners of a popular adult site.

Helen also touched on whether she would return to Coronation Street, a show she appeared on between 2000 and 2012, before returning to the role from 2017 until 2018. She has also appeared on the likes of I’m A Celebrity and Celebs GO Dating.

The former Coronation Street actress said she talked with the owners of the site about potentially joining the platform whose contributors include the likes of Christine McGuinness. It comes after Helen admitted that a decision by her ex Scott Sinclair has “broken my heart”.

Although Helen, 35, said she didn’t want to “belittle any woman who signs” for the site, she admitted that it just wasn’t for her and decided not to join either platform.

Writing in her new book ‘Head and Heart’ she explained why she had chosen not to sign up and the impact it had on her emotionally.

She said: “It felt too grim. I didn’t want that for myself…I know I post underwear pictures on my social media all the time, but that’s when I’m working for a lingerie or bikini brand. I’m not asking random creepy men to pay me for it.

“I just needed to get out of that meeting room as quickly as possible. When I left, I sat on the stairs outside and cried.”

Thinking in greater detail about her future, Helen said that she wanted to concentrate her efforts on acting and building up her career and income that way, including issuing a verdict on a Coronation Street return.

She said: “I want to concentrate my efforts on acting over the next year and see where it takes me.

“I’m not sure if a return to Corrie is on the cards at all, but I’d be open to it somewhere along the line. I think it could be iconic to see Rosie back in Weatherfield again.”

Whilst Helen wrote that she was unsure about a return to Coronation Street, she has since said that one of her co-stars, Alison King, criticised how the show sexualised her at such a young age.

She told the Mirror: “Was it morally right that I was expected to parade about in my knickers like some mad nymphomaniac when I was still just a teenager?

“Alison King, who plays Carla Connor, once kicked off in the green room, saying how disgusting it was that they were sexualising me when I was a young girl. I didn’t fully comprehend what she was talking about at the time. I do now. I get it.”

“Everything has changed now, which I’m glad about. They wouldn’t write it in quite the same way all these years later and since the Me Too movement.”
