A gas barbecue explosion at BIG4 Ingenia Holidays park at Lake Conjola on the NSW South Coast, Australia, has left five people injured including two children under five
A gas blast has torn through a beloved holiday park, leaving at least five people wounded, including two young children.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene around 7.30am on Saturday, January 30 following reports of a barbecue explosion at the BIG4 Ingenia Holidays park at Lake Conjola on the NSW South Coast, Australia, reports the Mirror.
Several paramedic teams raced to tackle the blast whilst an air ambulance was scrambled to the site. Two of those needing medical attention were youngsters under five years old.
A man in his 30s was airlifted to Wollongong Hospital with facial wounds and remains in a stable condition.
Three casualties were rushed to Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital, including a woman and two little ones under five.
The woman, also in her 30s, is receiving care for stomach injuries and is stable, whilst the two children are being treated for minor wounds.
Video footage circulating online reveals debris and a wrecked barbecue zone, with mangled metal and personal items strewn about.
One witness recounted the horrifying moment the explosion struck, saying: “I was sitting on the balcony and it was just a huge explosion.”
The onlooker revealed a family on holiday had been making breakfast on the barbecues when the blast erupted.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman confirmed the incident was still unfolding, according to nine News.
