The Masked Singer UK viewers were left stunned a TV legend was booted out of the singing competition during the latest episode

Harry Hill has been revealed as Red Panda on The Masked Singer in the ITV show’s latest elimination.

The popular singing contest, where celebrities hide their identities behind extravagant costumes and belt out pop tunes while judges Maya Jama, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan attempt to guess who they are, is currently in its seventh series with the final fast approaching.

In the most recent episode, Red Panda sang the Black Eyed Peas hit I Got A Feeling but was eliminated just before the semi-final.

When asked for their final guesses, Maya suggested Chris Ramsey, Davina thought it might be Brian Cox, Mo guessed McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Jonathan speculated Rufus Hound.

Ultimately, it was comedian Harry, best known for hosting TV Burp in the 2000s, who was unmasked. Upon his reveal, he joked to host Joel Dommett : “I’m not a natural singer, my wife heard me the other day, and she thought I was choking on a Pot Noodle!”

When asked if he enjoyed the experience, he confessed: “No. Yes of course I enjoyed it! The weird thing is, you put the thing on and you’ve got no inhibitions. The only downside is you’re breathing your own breath because it’s all trapped, and I had falafel for lunch!”.

Last week, audiences witnessed strictly-come-dancing>Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke being unmasked as Arctic Fox.

He had just delivered a powerful performance of Barbra Streisand’s Woman In Love, but it wasn’t sufficient to secure his place in the competition, reports the Mirror.

When questioned about his elimination from the programme, he admitted: “Devastated naturally. Delighted to be able to perform but devastated to have been voted off!”

However, Anton, who is wed to Hannah Summers and shares eight year old twins with her, disclosed he’s simply a massive admirer of the show and chose to participate so his appearance would be a wonderful surprise for his children.

He explained: “Well it’s such a lovely show. And it’s been going a while, I wondered why no-one ever asked me before! They have, I just haven’t had the time. It’s a lovely show, wonderfully done, it’s a great show. And the thought of doing this and people trying to guess who you are.”

Moments earlier, Kate Nash had been unveiled as Monkey Business, following her rendition of As Long As He Needs Me from the beloved musical Oliver!

She explained: “I was so nervous about it but then I got really nervous about the mask coming off and how it was going to feel singing without the mask. It’s like a little comfort zone, you’re not worrying about anything else when you’re in there. It was a unique experience , it’s going to be hard to give her up.”

The recent departures also come after Shakespeares Sister star Marcella Detroit was unveiled as the mystery performer behind Gargoyle during the opening four weeks of the series.

Before that reveal, Yak turned out to be former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon, famously known as Johnny Rotten in his punk rock prime, whilst rapper Professor Green had previously been exposed as Teabag.

During the opening week of the fresh series, Alex Jones, who has presented BBC teatime staple The One Show since 2010, was unmasked as Disc Jockey.

The Masked Singer is streaming now on ITVX
