The star broke down in tears and asked producers to stop filming in the latest episode of the Channel 5 show
22 Kids and Counting favourite Sophie Radford was spotted instructing producers to halt filming whilst sharing a devastating confession in the latest episode of the Channel 5 programme.
Sophie, 32, first appeared on television in 2012 when her mum and dad Sue and Noel allowed cameras into their bustling household.
The Morecambe-based family made their return on Sunday (February 1) for the eighth series of the popular programme, with mum Sue planning a surprise celebration for Sophie’s tenth wedding anniversary with partner Joe Bradley within the opening minutes.
But Sophie revealed moments afterwards that her relationship was going through difficulties and she hadn’t informed her parents.
Speaking candidly to cameras, Sophie revealed: “I’ve been bottling up a lot in the past year and I haven’t told my family a lot of what’s been going on,” reports the Mirror.
The mother-of-three added: “I feel like mum and dad have always got so much going on, I don’t want to burden them with my problems. I am reaching a point now where I’ve got to do something about it.”
Sophie then admitted: “My marriage isn’t working.”
The television personality subsequently spoke with her parents to reveal that she and Joe had chosen to separate after 10 years of marriage.
The former couple, who have three children together, having first met as teenagers before tying the knot a decade ago in the Lake District.
Sophie shared that her children have adjusted well to the separation, but she became emotional when discussing the split with her parents, even requesting the crew to halt filming.
“It’s definitely quite a mixture of emotions. In some ways [I’m] happy because it’s come to an end but definitely up and down throughout the day,” she confided in Sue and Noel.
The 32-year-old continued: “My anxiety has been quite bad the past few days but it’s bound to be up and down isn’t it?”.
During her on-camera interview, the producers probed: “You’ve had a lot of great times haven’t you? So it’s hard seeing those times soured by the pain of the split isn’t it?”.
This question pushed Sophie to the brink as she welled up and pleaded for a pause in filming. Sophie requested: “You’re just gonna have to stop for a minute.”
In a poignant final revelation, Sophie expressed her longing to “just can’t wait to feel happy and bubbly again”.
However, by she appeared to be in better spirits by the end of the episode.
