Robbie Williams has revealed the one thing that he fears could end his 35-year-long career in music – He admits he could lose all creditability “at any moment”
Former Take That star Robbie Williams has opened up about his daily anxiety and fears that pop stardom could be ripped from him at any moment. The Let Me Entertain You hitmaker especially fears that he would forget his own lyrics and let down his fans which is why he relies on autocue for every gig.
The 51-year-old chart star revealed: “I have autocue at the gigs and it is like having a safety wire, I know it but I have had moments on live TV where I have completely forgotten the words and completely forgotten the melody and that’s when you realise that the colour of adrenaline is brown!”
Rob added that he still suffers with “imposter syndrome” and believes that he “don’t deserve any of this” and worries that his fans would see through him if he was to mess up a performance.
He continued: “This is a type rope walk act…. We could fall.
“I could cause an international incident at any moment, I could end my career at any moment! And that is the anxiety that I am walking with and talking with at all times.”
The Rock DJ singer joked that he was destined to have a ‘regular’ job back in his hometown, he laughed: “It’s absolutely insane, my whole career exists on audacity and very little else.
“You know there is some shelves left unstacked at an Asda at Stoke-On-Trent because I am not there and that would be my rightful place.”
Rob’s recently topped the charts with his latest solo LP Britpop and became the artist with the most Number 1 albums in Official Albums Chart history.
And reflecting on his career after Take That he admitted that there’s one song he feels was overlooked: “I wish that Hot Fudge would have been a single”, Robbie insisted.
He also revealed the song he wish he had written and recorded is Yellow by Coldplay.
