Emmerdale fans instantly loved Kev Towsend when he arrived in the village last year – but is he coming back?
Emmerdale fans have been left demanding Chris Coghill reprises his role as Kev Townsend following a career update.
Kev originally arrived in the village in September 2025 as the estranged husband of Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), having married while they were both in prison.
When the couple reunited, Kev said he had just months to live and had been released on compassionate grounds, which turned out to be a lie.
Only two months later, after realising he couldn’t keep Robert apart from his true love, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), he departed following a sword incident, as he didn’t want to return to jail.
However, Kev, who was also revealed to be Lewis Barton’s (Bradley Riches) real dad, returned at Christmas, coming face-to-face with twisted John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).

John was determined to win his husband, Aaron, back and ordered Kev to murder Robert and then take his own life.
Luckily, Kev managed to break free from John and warned Aaron he was in danger before paying one last visit to the village to see Lewis.
Kev seemingly decided he would be better off without him and walked away, with Lewis remaining in the dark.
Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) has yet to inform her business partner, Lewis, of his true paternity, as she also doesn’t want criminal Kev in his life.
Away from the ITV soap, Kev star Chris Coghill confirmed he is starring in the forthcoming movie Synthesized, playing Odin.
Taking to Instagram, the 50-year-old posted a photo of himself leaning up against a blue car with a serious gaze. Chris could be seen with his hair flowing past his ears and a full beard, sporting a similar look to his soap character.
The image also confirmed the film had been nominated a the Manchester Film Festival. Chris captioned the post: “World Premiere alert. Friday 27th March. Home cinema. God’s Country. #synthesized. @greenymod @thomasturgoose1 @sachalparkinson.”
Emmerdale fans wasted no time in asking the star if he is returning to the ITV soap as much-loved Kev, with one person asking: “Are you ever coming back? Team Kev.”
A second replied: “When is King Kev coming back?”, while a third chimed in: “Come back to Emmerdale.”
Another penned: “He’ll be back. Chris did a great job of winning Britain over. Kev will be a welcome oddity in the village.”
Bradley Riches also commented on the photo and wrote: “PROUD OF U.”
Will Kev be returning to Emmerdale for unfinished business with his son? Soap fans will have to wait and see.
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX
