Greg Brown, the guitarist and songwriter who founded the American rock band Cake, has tragically passed away at the age of 56.
The sad news was announced on the band’s official Instagram account, revealing that Greg had succumbed to a brief illness. On Saturday, February 7, the band posted a poignant black and white photo of Greg with his guitar, breaking the heartbreaking news to their 73,000 followers.
The caption read: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Greg Brown’s passing after a brief illness. Greg was an integral part of CAKE’s early sound and development. His creative contributions were immense, and his presence-both musical and personal-will be deeply missed. Godspeed, Greg.”
