Britney Spears sells entire music catalogue including iconic ‘Baby One More Time’

Pop icon Britney Spears has sold her music catalogue to Primary Wave in a deal reportedly comparable to Justin Bieber’s $200 million agreement, with the singer celebrating by spending time with her sons

Britney Spears has offloaded her music catalogue. The Toxic sensation has struck what’s being hailed as a “landmark deal” with publishers Primary Wave for “her ownership share” of her tracks, including classics like Baby One More Time, Gimme More, I’m a Slave 4 U, Lucky, Sometimes and Stronger.

Court papers seen by TMZ reveal that Britney finalised the agreement on 30 December, though whilst the exact sum wasn’t disclosed, insiders suggested to the publication that it rivalled the whopping $200 million deal Justin Bieber secured when he flogged his music rights.

It’s thought that Britney’s artist royalties and publishing rights formed part of the agreement, although Variety hinted that her name and likeness (NIL) rights were probably not included unless the price tag was significantly higher than TMZ’s estimates.

The 44 year old songstress is reportedly chuffed with the sale and has been marking the occasion by spending quality time with her sons.

Just last month, Britney declared she would “never perform in the US again”.

Taking to Instagram, she revealed: “Sending this piano to my son this year! ! ! … Interestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about. Yup and it’s embarrassing sometimes … but I walked through the fire to save my life ..

“I will never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons but I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son … in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon. “He’s a huge star and I’m so humbled to be in his presence! ! ! God speed, little man! ! !”.

Britney is mum to two lads, Jayden, 19, and Preston, 20, with former spouse Kevin Federline, though she didn’t specify which of her boys she was gushing about in the social media update.

Nevertheless, the Sometimes chart-topper has previously raved about Jayden’s musical talents on the piano.

Back in March, she posted footage of Jayden tickling the ivories and gushed about her son: “I’m in awe of him. I can’t believe he’s mine! ! ! I was honestly scared that’s not normal! ! !”.

Britney’s most recent live performances in America were during her 2018 Piece of Me tour, which came after her Las Vegas residency that spanned from 2013 to 2017.

She was set to make her comeback to the stage for another Vegas stint with her Domination shows in 2019, but the series was scrapped with the pop star citing family matters as the reason for pulling the plug.

In a public statement released at the time, she revealed: “I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family. We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me.

“Thank you to all my fans for your continued love and support during this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and I look forward to the time when I can be back on stage performing for all of you.”
