22 Kids and Counting star Millie Radford faced a devastating decision when her new dog, Bella, fell seriously ill

22 Kids and Counting: Josh speaks about his struggles

The stars of 22 Kids and Counting, Millie Radford and her husband, Harley, were faced with a heart-wrenching decision in the latest series of the Channel 5 reality show.

A sneak peek from Sunday night’s episode, shared on the Radfords’ Facebook page, showed Sue and Noel Radford receiving a distressing phone call from one of their children back in the UK while they were holidaying in Dubai.

Millie’s sister relayed the grim news over the phone that Millie and Harley might have to say goodbye to their new pup, Bella, unless they could cough up £2,000.

“She’s got really poorly, and they’re having to do a surgery on her, or there’s a high chance she is going to die,” she told the shocked parents.

Sue responded, “Oh my god, is it that bad?” reports the Daily Mirror.

Her daughter confirmed, “The surgery is going to cost £2,000.”

“What an absolute nightmare,” Sue lamented. “Millie and Harley haven’t got that kind of money. We can’t let them put the dog down.”

Noel added, “It’s not as if we have got it spare. We have got things to pay for, and what have you. I don’t know what we are going to do.”

Viewers rushed to the comments section to express their concern, with one writing, “I would sell a kidney for my pets, they’re my world and more. Hope the puppy gets better soon.”

Another posted, “That is so sad. Hope it turned out ok and the little dog is ok.”

While another fan wrote, “Oh no, hope it’s ok. Please tell me it survives.”

One person pleaded, “Please tell me you helped save their pup.”

The synopsis for this week’s episode reveals: “When ill health forces the Radfords’ son-in-law, Harley, to quit work, his mood hits an all-time low as finances become tight, so Millie buys a dog to cheer him up.

“Meanwhile, Sue and Noel prepare to celebrate another year together with a short break in the Lake District, but an unexpected financial windfall prompts them to revise their plans.”

22 Kids and Counting airs on Sunday at 8pm on Channel 5.
