ITV’s The 1% Club Valentine’s Day special saw one contestant take £10k home rather than risk it all on a baffling final question that left viewers stumped.
The 1% Club made its return to ITV this evening for a special Valentine’s Day edition, with presenter Lee Mack greeting an assortment of singletons and romantic pairs for the challenge.
The ITV programme puts participants through their paces with a sequence of brainteasers, where those reaching the finale must tackle a question that stumps 99% of Britons to claim the top prize of £100,000.
Tonight’s Valentine’s episode, broadcast on February 14th, embraced a playful romantic angle, featuring puzzles themed around romance and partnerships.
During the programme, Lee chatted with numerous competitive duos alongside determined solo contestants, including one participant employed by a dating application.

Lee delivered his trademark quips once again, including “what a cupid stunt”, whilst regularly presenting couples attempting to outsmart one another in the competition, reports the Express.
Ultimately, contestant Rebecca found herself standing alone to tackle the final 1% brainteaser, after an exceptionally challenging penultimate puzzle eliminated her remaining rivals.
As the decisive moment approached, Lee enquired about Rebecca’s typical success rate when participating from home, to which she confessed having a “50/50 hit rate”.
When Lee addressed Rebecca’s partner Gareth, who had been knocked out in an earlier stage, he encouragingly urged her to trust her instincts, declaring: “I’m so proud of you!”
Rebecca ultimately chose to secure £10,000 rather than risk everything for the jackpot, with Lee subsequently unveiling the exceptionally tricky 1% puzzle.
The question posed was: “On their first date, Noah and Evie discovered that they were both born in the same year, 2001, and in the same month, May. Evie asked Noah on what date in May he was born and their conversation is shown below. What is Evie’s date of birth?”
A snapshot then depicted Noah informing Evie: “If you add the two digits in the date together, you get 11.” To which Evie replied: “In that case, I’m exactly four weeks older than you.”
The correct answer was subsequently revealed to be that Evie was born on May 1st.
After pondering over the question, Rebecca proposed an incorrect answer, leading Lee to tell her: “I’m glad you got it wrong because it means you did the right thing!”
Taking to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, viewers all congratulated Rebecca on making the right choice.
“Well played Rebecca. You made the correct decision. Enjoy,” one wrote.”
“Woop! Well done Rebecca,” a second added, as a third applauded: “Rebecca has taken the money. £10k for tonight’s top player.”
Meanwhile, other fans admitted tonight’s questions had been challenging, with one confessing: “Takes me 30 seconds just to read the question.”
“Either these questions are getting harder or I’m getting thicker!” another fan admitted.
One more wrote: “Didnt understand this question???”
The 1% Club returns next Saturday at 8.25pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
