Britain’s Got Talent boss Simon Cowell has admitted he’d be useless if he had to audition for the ITV series
Simon Cowell has issued his most brutal assessment yet… about himself. The mogul today confesses he has no talent whatsoever.
For years he’s judged wannabe performers on TV, but it seems he’d be absolutely useless if he was the one auditioning. The Britain’s Got Talent boss admits: “I am the most talentless person in the world. I don’t have a talent. I just don’t. Very early on in my life, I realised I had no talent whatsoever in terms of performing.
“That means that when I see the acts, I think, ‘I couldn’t do that’. If I was on the show there is nothing I could do!” Even though Simon is convinced he hasn’t got a talent, he loves discovering acts who have something special.

More than two decades after first becoming a TV judge, he still absolutely loves the job more than ever.
“There are all these undiscovered people out there,” he says.
“They’re so brilliant and they’ve just got so much talent. That’s what I love about my job.
“When you see certain acts, you think about the amount of time and effort that goes into it. It’s so cool. As judges, we all get a real buzz out of seeing stuff like that.”
Simon thinks Britain’s Got Talent is more than just a contest.
“This show does the job because it’s entertaining to watch,” he adds. “But it’s also inspiring.”
Simon loves it when Britain’s Got Talent helps wannabes become superstars.
Many of them have gone on to have global fame after clips from the show were shared online.
“When I’m watching these acts, I’ll often think, ‘Is that going to go viral? Are people going to talk about it?’,” Simon says.
“That’s what I love about the whole social media aspect of the industry.”
Over the years acts including Paul Potts and Susan Boyle have become famous overnight thanks to YouTube.
Simon says: “With Paul and Susan, we embraced social media.
“We didn’t see it as a threat… it was the opposite. We thought, ‘If something works well online, it helps the show’. “Everything helps everything. You’ve just got to embrace it.”
Simon also loves his job because he gets to have a giggle he has with his co-stars.
When he’s filming with fellow judges Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and KSI, he really lets loose.
Auditions in Blackpool are always a highlight.
Simon says: “We had such a great time there. When we went for the new series, I had a Mr Whippy and donuts. And my hotel had a rollercoaster going through it!
“We also found the best joke shop ever.
“We bought stink bombs and everything. It was brilliant.”
Blackpool’s crowds also made it extra special.
“The people there are fun,” says Simon
“When we were filming, I kept turning round to the audience because they were so on it.
“We always say the audience is the fifth judge and they genuinely are. If they like an act, it’s great.”
The new series kicks off on Saturday at 7pm on ITV1.
