EXCLUSIVE: Love Island star Chuggs Wallis has opened up about his time on the ITV2 dating show and why he won’t be returning for a third stint in the villa
Chuggs Wallis has revealed details about his double Love Island appearance and explained why he rejected the chance to come back for Casa Amor.
The 27-year-old Made in Chelsea star initially joined the villa in 2021 during the seventh series of the ITV2 romance programme and made his comeback for All Stars series two last year.
His original stay lasted merely two days in 2021, and he reveals producers approached him about returning within weeks, though he declined the offer at that time.
Speaking on behalf of Heart Bingo, Chuggs said: “I was 23 when I first did it and I’d just come out of a break up. I think I went into it naive and I forgot that it was a competition.
“You get put to bed so late or so early in the morning and then you’re getting fed at different times, so like your body clock is just so off and then if you’re tired, you’re like ‘ s**t, I need to be on good form’ and if there’s people in there that are not really people, you would get in your head and feel pressured to try and force it.”, reports OK!.
“So as a 23 year old it was very intense and they asked me if I wanted to stay out there and come back in for Casa Amor. The big, main producer asked me and at that point in time I was like ‘absolutely not. I hate this place. I want to get out’.
“Perhaps in hindsight I should have stayed and just done it then because the reason I did All Stars is because I had that Love Island itch and I just didn’t really get to scratch it off the first time I did it.
“So now that I got the second time I really feel like I understand how the show works, I get the format and now I feel like I can explain fully how the whole show goes when before It was such an in and out that it was hard.”
Chuggs, who appears on E4 reality programme Made in Chelsea, has yet to discover his perfect match but maintains that viewers won’t witness his return to the villa.
He explained: “I’m still single but my Love Island journey is over. I feel like Love Island is such a game. You got to be a certain character and I don’t feel like the person that I am actually is that well suited to it.
“I would entertain conversations from like Love Island in America or something because that could be fun. I think the best thing about Love Island for me was the people that I got to meet through it.
“I got to rub shoulders with people that I never would have done and some of them are my best mates now and I think it’s made me a much more open-minded person as a result of it. So if I could replicate that in another country, then I could see how that would be a benefit but no more All Stars for me.”
Love Island: All Stars airs Sunday to Friday on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm
