Arsenal dropping points at Wolves has handed Manchester City a significant Premier League title advantage

Arsenal failed to extend their advantage at the Premier League summit after surrendering a two-goal cushion to Wolves at Molineux. Strikes from Bukayo Saka and Piero Hincapie had placed the visitors in commanding control, only for Hugo Bueno to reduce the arrears before a Tom Edozie effort in stoppage time drew Wolves level.

The Gunners had taken the lead after merely five minutes as Saka nodded a Declan Rice delivery through the legs of Jose Sa. The visitors created further opportunities in the opening period but were unable to find a second.

Following some resistance against Wolves pressure, Hincapie appeared to have doubled Arsenal’s lead, only for the linesman’s flag to be raised for offside. VAR stepped in, however, and ruled the Arsenal defender was in a legal position and therefore the goal was awarded.

Bueno, who had kept Hincapie onside, atoned moments afterwards, as he bent home from the edge of the penalty area to make it 2-1. Arsenal defended solidly for the remainder but that altered dramatically when a breakdown in communication between Gabriel Magalhaes and David Raya permitted Edozie to blast in the loose ball.

With all of that being said, Star Sport has compared the upcoming fixtures for Arsenal and Man City as the title race heats up.

Arsenal’s next five Premier League fixtures

Tottenham (A) – February 22.

Chelsea (H) – March 1.

Brighton (A) – March 4.

Everton (H) – March 15.

Bournemouth (H) – April 11

Verdict: Arsenal’s upcoming three matches could be difficult as they travel to Tottenham and Brighton whilst welcoming Chelsea to north London.

After an FA Cup fifth round encounter away at Mansfield Town, the Gunners return to Emirates Stadium to take on Everton. The Carabao Cup final against Manchester City is their final fixture before the March international break, with a meeting against Bournemouth following that extended domestic hiatus.

Manchester City’s next five Premier League fixtures

Newcastle (H) – February 21.

Leeds United (A) – February 28.

Nottingham Forest (H) – March 4.

West Ham (A) – March 14.

Chelsea (A) – April 11.

Verdict: Man City also face some tricky encounters over the coming weeks, including away trips to Chelsea, Leeds United and a rejuvenated West Ham United.

Their home fixtures feature Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, with Pep Guardiola’s team clear favourites to claim victory in both encounters.
