22 Kids and Counting tension as star opens up on ‘difficult’ relationship

Ellie and Steven face relationship challenges in the upcoming episode of the Channel 5 show.

It seems there’s a storm brewing for one of the stars of 22 Kids and Counting, as Ellie and her beau Steven appear to be at odds.

A sneak peek of the forthcoming episode of the Channel 5 series, set to air on Sunday, 1 March, reveals that the young lovebirds have been an item for nearly a year.

One snippet, shared on Instagram, captures Ellie unamused as she picks up a detergent bottle, irked by Steven’s carelessness in letting it spill over.

In another clip, Sue muses: “Every relationship doesn’t it, when they’ve gone through the honeymoon period,” with Noel chiming in, “It hits the buffers, doesn’t it?”

As Ellie busies herself with domestic duties, she confides to the camera about Steven’s long working hours, reports the Mirror.

She shares: “More than he usually would, so I’m by myself more than I usually would be as well. I thought Steven would be home a lot more, but he’s out. So, it gets very lonely.”

Meanwhile, at the gym, Steven discloses their current bone of contention – his desire for more tattoos, which doesn’t sit well with Ellie.

He admits: “Obviously, I don’t want any conflicts in my relationship, but I don’t really like people telling me what I can or can’t do.”

On-screen, a text exchange between Ellie and Steven unfolds, with Steven informing her of his weekend plans and her expressing a wish to spend time together.

Speaking directly to viewers, she revealed: “I was really looking forward to a weekend away. I was very disappointed.

“I have no idea what he’s playing at, but he’s being mysterious. We should’ve been going to the Lakes today after work, but Steven blew me off. I’m annoyed to be honest, and the bus is late.”

Yet in an unexpected twist, whilst she stood waiting for the bus, Steven pulled up in a sleek new motor having secretly passed his driving test.

Archive clips showed him clutching his certificate, as he admitted that a major reason for learning to drive was enabling him and Ellie to enjoy adventures together.

Left utterly stunned by the revelation, she said, “I couldn’t believe he was doing secret driving lessons! I was at home a lot on my own, so I was like, ‘What’s going on?!’

He responded: “I didn’t tell Ellie in case I failed. I’m very bad at lying as well, so it was quite difficult for me to lie about doing my driving lessons.”
