Bin worker got the fright of his life when he discovered a man wanted by police hiding inside a rubbish collector in Huber Heights, Ohio, after a traffic stop went wrong

A bin collector could not believe his eyes after he discovered a suspect hiding from police inside a wheelie bin. His time on the run was quickly brought to an end after the cops were stationed right behind the binmen, ready to arrest him.

Dramatic video footage captures the moment the worker nearly leaps out of his skin upon finding the human version of ‘Oscar the Grouch’ amongst the rubbish. The bin was about to be tipped into the lorry when the man jumps backwards and points towards the container.

Fortunately, officers from Huber Heights Police Department were positioned behind the vehicle and were swiftly notified of their suspect’s location. Police confirmed that the man was detained and currently remains in police custody.

Footage recorded on Monday (February 23) shows the moment the rumbled criminal attempts to flee from the scene after being found by the startled bin worker. But, unknown to the criminal, officers are right behind the workers and spot him as he clambers out of the bin.

Police then began chasing after him in what appeared to be a short runaway. The suspect did everything he could to avoid being captured, even going as far as to abandon his footwear during his escape bid.

The startling clip was filmed after officers had conducted a traffic stop some minutes earlier. The motorist had soon bolted from his vehicle almost immediately after being pulled over, causing police to lose sight of him.

Thankfully, the man — nicknamed ‘Oscar the Grouch’, in reference to the infamous Muppets character, by officers – reappeared directly in front of them. Officer Perez arrested him in Huber Heights, Ohio, according to NeedToKnow.

A representative for Huber Heights Police Department stated: “Earlier today, Officer Tyree initiated a traffic stop. Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver fled on foot.

“The Officer briefly lost sight of the suspect and quickly established a perimeter in the area. As luck would have it, ‘Oscar the Grouch’ — as we’ve nicknamed our suspect — appeared at just the right place and the right time.

“Thanks to the impressive athletic ability and swift response of our very own Officer Perez, the suspect was safely apprehended. The suspect was taken into custody without injury to anyone involved.”

After the police department shared the hilarious moment to their social media platforms, the clip has gone viral. At the time of writing, it currently has over 1.5million views, and over 5,000 reactions on its Facebook post, most of which laugh at the silliness of the perp.
