Coronation Street has been airing a new mysterious storyline surrounding newcomer Jodie Ramsey, played by Olivia Frances Brown.

Jodie, the estranged sister of Shona Platt, first made her debut earlier this year during the Corriedale soap crossover, where it was soon revealed she was Shona’s sibling.

However, it was soon revealed that Jodie is hiding many secrets, including deliberately getting Shona drunk, flirting with brother-in-law David Platt and threatening her father Doug, and earlier this week she even targeted Bernie Winter on the cobbles.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday night, Jodie star Olivia penned: “Came to the cobbles looking for closure and maybe a bit of chaos.

“How are we all liking Jodie? Would you trust her? Thank you for all the kind messages. I’ve loved every second of bringing her to life. @coronationstreet.”

Responding in the comments, one person said: “Is your character going to seduce David at some point I hope so!”

A different account put: “Omg can’t make my mind up about her,on one hand you can tell she loves Lily and really looks out for her,but I can’t help thinking she’s going to make a move on David.!!”

Another wrote: “I love the mystery behind Jodie she is the fresh character the show needed in my opinion”, another fan put: “You are brilliant loving your character” while a different account added: “Loving jodie on corrie!! Love how unpredictable she is and that u never know what she’s gonna do next.”

Olivia, a Liverpool-born actress and singer-songwriter based in Manchester, is engaged to This City Is Ours star James Nelson-Joyce.

The couple have been together for several years, and in 2023 they announced their engagement via a joint social media post. Actor James Nelson-Joyce is best known for his role as Michael Kavanagh in This City Is Ours, as well as Edward ‘Treacle’ Goodson in A Thousand Blows.

This won’t mark Olivia’s first foray into television, as the performer has already appeared in Channel 4’s The Gathering, plus parts in Archie and Boiling Point.

Olivia boasts an impressive following of 21.7K on Instagram, where her profile states: “probably singing jazz standards somewhere”.

The actress frequently posts clips of her performances at Petit Café Lark Lane, where she takes to the stage regularly.
