Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary were joined by an unusual fellow presenter on Friday’s episode (February 27) of the ITV show
This Morning viewers admitted they were “freaking” out as the latest show was opened by a robot instead of a human presenter.
People tuning into the ITV show on Friday (February 27) were greeted by the sight of a robot standing where the hosts usually stand.
“Hello everyone and welcome to Friday’s This Morning,” it said. “I am Harold the robot and I am delighted to be in the studio with Alison and Dermot today.”
It then broke out into a dance as the programme’s presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary appeared.
“Oh no!” Dermot joked. “It’s only a question of time until we are replaced.” “Harold you are too good, it’s freaking me out,” he quipped.
Dermot then crouched down beside Harold and quipped that the robot was about the same size as him, saying that was “great”.
“Literally, I was about to…” admitted co-host Alison, as Dermot told her: “I thought I’d get in early, thought I’d get early.”
He put his arm around Harold and joked: “When they take over, they are going to remember that.”
He and Alison then joined Harold in showing off their dance moves, with one viewer remarking on X: “Really enjoyed that, hope Dermot hasn’t done his back in.”
Other viewers had mixed feelings about the shake-up, with some agreeing that it was a bit “freaky”, but others saying that it was “interesting” segment and admiring Harold’s dance moves.
“That robot is freaking me out… they will take over,” one person posted on X, which was formerly Twitter.
“That robot dancing on This Morning is freaky!” said someone else, joking: “Although the stagger at the end of its dance looked just like me on a night out!”
“Just want Harold to malfunction and go on the rampage,” quipped another viewer, as another remarked: “Dear God.”
Somebody else posted: “This is the future, robots that dance, very human and if it had a face that’s so interesting. It will be doing Karaoke for us all soon in the bars.”
“That dancing robot is almost *too* good,” commented another fan, as another teased: “Harold can dance much better than Dermot.”
