Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ heartbreaking Dr Todd twist and it won’t end well

Emmerdale viewers are convinced Dr Todd is hiding a secret health battle after her emotional revelation about her father’s health battle with Jacob Gallagher

Emmerdale viewers are predicting that Dr. Todd has a hidden health condition after an uncomfortable confrontation with Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant).

In recent episodes of the ITV soap, Jacob has borne the brunt of Dr. Todd’s (Caroline Harker) bullying tactics as she makes his hospital job unbearable.

Aspiring doctor Jacob has been finding his feet in the A&E ward, and if operating in such a high-pressure environment wasn’t challenging enough, his supervisor has been particularly harsh, overloading him with work and relentlessly finding fault with his performance.

During Thursday’s visit to the Dales (April 2), Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) questioned Jacob about whether he was feeling poorly after overhearing him being sick that morning, prompting him to admit he was struggling with his rota.

Jacob snapped at Kerry when she advised him to take things easy, and his mood deteriorated throughout the day.

When he arrived at the hospital, a colleague wound him up by claiming Dr. Todd was searching for him, but this proved accurate when she demanded he apologise to Kim Tate (Claire King) for a diagnostic error, reports the Express.

The medic humiliated Jacob and allocated him cleaning duties for his shift, leaving him deflated.

Subsequently, Jacob became alarmed when he observed Dr. Todd behaving aggressively towards a patient and challenged his superior about the incident.

But he was stunned to discover that the patient in question is Dr. Todd’s dad, who is battling the advanced stages of dementia. Visibly moved,

Dr. Todd confided in Jacob about her father’s health, revealing that he was a neurologist and his career had inspired her to become a doctor, with the aim of making him proud.

She continued, “When it started, he knew exactly what was happening and what was going to happen, and he made me promise to never feel guilty and never let him become a burden.”

After Dr.Todd’s account of her father’s dementia diagnosis, some Emmerdale viewers are now suspecting she may also have early-onset dementia, given her erratic behaviour towards Jacob.

Posting on X, one viewer speculated: “#emmerdale just a late thought but could Dr Todd maybe have early onset dementia like her dad. She did tell baby Dr Jacob it was mushrooms then denied she said it. She has bad mood swings.”

A second suggested: “There’s a thought”, as another added: “Possibly but also remember that a bully is a bully-never forget that folks #Emmerdale.

“So Sweeney has got dementia? Poor Dr Todd…she needs a full apology from Dr Cubb for his outrageous accusations #Emmerdale”, contributed another.
