Alexander MacCallum has pleaded guilty following the death of young couple Adam Muskett and Katie Worell in a car crash in 2024 which left their families heartbroken

A man has pleaded guilty to causing the death of a “much-loved” young couple in a tragic car crash. Adam Muskett, 27, and Katie Worrell, 25, were killed in the collision in west Wales on June 13, 2024.

The couple, from Tendy, were travelling on the A477 between Llanddowror and Red Roses in Carmarthenshire in a Ford Fiesta when they were hit by a Jaguar XKR being driven by Alexander MacCallum. Emergency services rushed to the scene, including Wales Air Ambulance, but the pair unfortunately died as a result of their injuries.

MacCallum, of Beach Road, Llanreath, Pembroke Dock, was charged with two counts of causing death by careless driving. On Monday, February 9, MacCallum, 28, pleaded guilty to both counts during a hearing at Swansea Crown Court.

Judge Huw Rees was told in court that MacCallum “accepts responsibility for the offences” after driving onto the opposing carriageway on the A477, but did so due to a “momentary loss of control” due to the weather conditions.

MacCallum was of previous good character, the court heard, and a pre-sentence reported was ordered by Judge rees. MacCallum is due to be sentenced in April 2.

He has also received an immediate driving disqualification until the sentencing hearing.

After the fatal collision, Mr Muskett’s family said: “Adam, our loving son, brother, grandson and nephew. He loved life, his friends, Tenby, football and Katie very much.

“How do we move on without you, your big kind heart and cheeky smile? We are heartbroken and forever proud.”

Miss Worrell’s family said: “Katie was a much-loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin.

“She lived life to the full, loving to travel and achieving so much in such a short time, she graduated with a Masters and worked hard.

“She loved her friends and Adam beyond words. Katie was kind, caring and beautiful and our lives will never be the same without her.”
