Marc Anthony breaks silence on Beckham family feud: ‘Hardly the truth’

Singer Marc Anthony has spoken out after being blamed for sparking the bitter and very public Beckham family spat at Brooklyn and Nicola’s now infamous 2022 wedding

Marc Anthony has broken his silence after finding himself thrust into the heart of the Beckham family’s acrimonious – and highly public – row.

The 57 year old singer has been fingered as the catalyst behind the Beckham clan’s bitter dispute, with remarks he supposedly made during Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz’s 2022 wedding ceremony now coming back to bite him, reports the Mirror..

Anthony took to the stage at the 2022 celebrations, and reportedly afterwards branded Victoria Beckham “the most beautiful woman in the room”, with insiders alleging the remark sent Nicola fleeing the venue in floods of tears. Brooklyn also dredged up the episode in his scathing six-page social media assault on his mum and dad just weeks back.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Anthony described the Beckhams as a “wonderful” family.

“I have nothing to say about what’s happening with the family,” he stated.

“They’re a wonderful, wonderful family. I’ve known them since before the kids were born. I’m godfather to Cruz. I’m really close to the family. But I have nothing to say about what happened there. It’s extremely unfortunate how it’s playing out.”

The Grammy-winning artist then insisted that the way the feud has unfolded “is hardly the truth”.

A PEOPLE magazine exposé from 2025 detailed the mother-of-the-groom nightmare scenario, with another wedding attendee stepping forward to corroborate the incident in 2026. One insider revealed to PEOPLE that the moment left guests “in shock” and that a slow dance between Victoria and Brooklyn was inappropriate.

Fast-forward to January of this year, with Brooklyn turning to Instagram to publicly slam his parents whilst also alleging that David and Victoria had tried to wreck his marriage to wife Nicola, 30.

In the now-deleted six-page Instagram story, he penned: “For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family.

“The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into… I believe the truth always comes out.”

He went on to claim he had previously been “controlled by a family that values public promotion above all else” and revealed he had discovered “peace and relief” with Nicola.

“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” he went on. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.

“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

Brooklyn further claimed his parents meddled with his wedding arrangements, alleging Victoria pulled out of creating Nicola’s gown at the eleventh hour and that he was coerced into signing away rights to his name prior to the ceremony – something he said would have impacted his wife and future children.

Meanwhile, David and Victoria seemed to put on a show of unity with their other children – Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14 – as they made appearances at Haute Couture Fashion Week in recent weeks.

The Beckhams have yet to publicly address their son’s allegations.
