Masked Singer UK star Conkers’ identity ‘exposed’ by host in sweet moment

The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett has shared the adorable moment he gave the game away.

Joel Dommett, the host of The Masked Singer, has revealed the heartwarming moment he let slip a contestant’s identity.

The popular ITV show, which features celebrities performing in elaborate disguises whilst judges Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Maya Jama and Mo Gilligan try to guess their identities, wrapped up on Saturday night.

Sugababes’ Keisha Buchanan clinched the win as Moth, Mica Paris toasted third place as Toastie, and This Morning’s Ben Shephard was unmasked as Conkers, securing second place.

The former Good Morning Britain host left everyone gobsmacked when he removed his mask, with no one guessing it was him.

Joel was so taken aback by Ben’s reveal that he hit the deck, especially since Ben had been a guest judge on the show just weeks before, during the only episode he didn’t perform.

The I’m A Celebrity star has now shared the sweet moment he spilled the beans to his young son, risking Moth’s identity being leaked.

As he held his son before bed, the little lad, who Joel welcomed with wife Hannah in September 2023, blurted out: “Ben Shephard is Conker.”

Joel had to quickly hush him, saying: “Don’t tell anybody else ok,” reports the Mirror.

In his post, Joel joked: “Don’t tell a 2 year old secrets.” He also added on his Instagram Story: “I got him to sign an NDA and he still told everyone.”

Ben joined in the fun in the comments, quipping: “I told him in secret I promise.” This Morning’s Sian Welby added a string of laughing emojis, whilst Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards chimed in: “Love this.”

Ben left viewers gobsmacked when he unveiled that he’d been moonlighting on the ITV contest, even grilling other booted-off contestants on This Morning.

He painted it as an “extraordinary” and “emotional” ride, saying: “Having turned 50, I thought, ‘I’ve gotta do a few more scary things,’ and this was my favourite.”

“The bizarre thing is, I have been interviewing all the unmasked celebrities on This Morning. They have no idea I’m on the show and still in it!” he revealed.

“It’s an isolating experience going on this show, as you can’t tell anyone. I can’t wait to be able to talk to everyone about it.”

When quizzed about how it felt to pull the wool over the judges’ eyes, he confessed: “I’ve loved it. The experience has been remarkable. Really special. I loved that side of it. As a rule, I think I’m pretty straight down the line and the fact I got to do something so under-hand.

“Davina was talking to me in the most minute detail about what happens when you’re a contestant on the show. I was asking her loads of questions.”

Chatting about his disguise, he added: “You might not have realised that I’m not necessarily the best singer. The costumes are incredible, my costume particularly had so much going for it. I fell in love with it immediately.

“I just worked on the idea that Conkers wants to be really brave, he is a knight, but he [Conkers] is actually just a little bit nervous as well and actually wants people to be his mates.”

He was thrilled at the opportunity to don the costume, adding: “I think it was destiny. They talked me through some ideas but when they showed me Conkers I fell in love with it.”
