A woman was spotted grabbing wine bottles during the chaos at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after a gunman opened fire, and footage of the incident quickly went viral

One woman has become an internet phenomenon after appearing to secure multiple wine bottles for herself during the chaos at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The bold move happened after gunshots rang out at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night.

A gunman, later named by officials as 31 year old Cole Tomas Allen from California, reportedly charged a security checkpoint outside the main ballroom carrying a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives.

Yet one woman appeared more focused on maximising her evening than fleeing the scene.

The unnamed blonde, seen donning a lengthy black fur coat, headed directly for a table to collect bottles.

The shooting occurred early in the evening, meaning substantial quantities of alcohol remained untouched across the ballroom.

The woman’s identity stays unknown, and it’s unclear whether it was alcohol she had previously bought. There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing.

Nevertheless, clips quickly spread online, with many divided over the behaviour.

One remarked: “This is absolutely disgusting. Members of the press were caught stealing bottles of wine in the immediate aftermath of the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.”

A second added: “The President almost just got assassinated and members of the media are using the opportunity to steal bottles of wine.” Yet others disagreed, finding the behaviour entertaining. One said: “They paid $350+ a plate, and the night got canceled early, free wine tax refund is fair game.

“How is this stealing? They were placed on the tables for dinner. They were meant to be consumed. Everything was already paid for,” another poster wrote.

A third said: “The highlight of the shooting is all the press and influencers yoinking bottles of wine and champagne. Good on them for that.”

A fourth commented: “This is absolutely hilarious. After the assassination attempt, this woman just snags a couple of bottles of wine. She’s got her priorities figured out.”

During the incident, the suspect fired at a Secret Service agent, who was struck at close range but avoided serious injury thanks to his bulletproof vest.

Investigators are understood to believe the attack was politically motivated, with acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche revealing that preliminary findings suggest the gunman was targeting administration officials, most likely including the president.

Papers found on the suspect reportedly described him as a “Friendly Federal Assassin” and criticised current administration policies.

Although the evening’s events were cut short, President Trump later addressed the nation from the White House, praising the Secret Service’s swift response and calling for an end to political violence.
