- A Jet2 flight from Tenerife to Birmingham was forced to make an emergency landing in Porto after the pilot suffered a suspected heart attack.
- Flight LS1266 with 220 passengers on board experienced chaos as flight attendants rushed through the cabin in tears asking for medical help. The aircraft suddenly dropped altitude as the first officer took control and diverted to Porto.
- “We were awoken by chaos,” one witness told The Sun.
- Children were crying as the plane dropped quickly for the emergency landing at 2.11am on Friday.
- Passengers were stranded for over 13 hours without accommodation. “They wouldn’t let us off the plane itself for over an hour,” one passenger revealed.
- Jet2 dispatched a replacement pilot from Manchester to assist with the return journey.
- Jet2 stated that safety was never compromised and apologised for the unforeseen delay.
