The Met Office has forecast another UK heatwave this weekend, with temperatures expected to reach 30C across southern and southeastern England — just two weeks after a record-breaking heatwave

Two regions of England guaranteed the next UK heatwave – as the Met Office provides an update – have been revealed. The mercury could reach 30C once more over the forthcoming weekend, just a fortnight after a record-smashing heatwave, according to weather experts.

Temperatures pick up from Friday, June 12, with the mercury potentially touching the 30C mark. Met Office meteorologist Dan Stroud said: “We’re looking at temperatures climbing into the weekend, particularly on Saturday and Sunday, so feeling much warmer than recent days, with temperatures quite widely above average, especially across the south come Saturday, and even more so on Sunday.”

Mr Stroud indicated the south and southeast of England are set to endure the highest temperatures over the weekend, with the possibility of 30C heat in the two areas.

“More so on Monday,” Mr Stroud said in an update, saying “there is always the potential for hitting heatwave criteria again” while emphasising uncertainty about longer range forecasts.

The Wednesday (June 10) outlook states: “Blustery showers return to most areas on Wednesday, with northern and eastern areas having the greatest chance of hearing some thunder with a risk of hail too.”, reports Birmingham Live.

“Some pleasant sunny spells are likely, especially through the afternoon, feeling rather cool.

“Turning dry for a time overnight with clear skies. However, low cloud and rain arrives in the west through the early hours. Turning milder in the west, chilly elsewhere.” Looking at Thursday, June 11, the Met Office went on: “A wet and rather windy day as rain spreads across east, turning locally heavy at times, but easing later. Feeling muggy under widespread cloud cover. Turning drier by the evening.”

The BBC said today will be quite overcast with intermittent downpours for many areas. These will become more regular and locally stormy during the afternoon and across eastern regions. Short bursts of sunshine between the downpours.

The Beeb says tonight, most daytime downpours will subside as skies brighten, though a few will persist in northern Scotland. Overnight, a swathe of cloud and rain will advance from the west, but the far north-east will remain clear.
