Amazon is offering England fans an alternative to watching the FIFA World Cup on terrestrial channels

England end their FIFA World Cup group stage campaign this weekend when they face Panama in New Jersey. Thomas Tuchel’s side can secure their place at the top of Group L at 10pm on Saturday (June 27), and while BBC has confirmed it will not broadcast the game, there’s another way to watch it for free.

This World Cup is the biggest ever, with 48 teams playing a record 104 matches across 39 days of football. Many of these fixtures, including England vs Panama, are available to stream for free on Prime Video’s ITVX channel.

Amazon’s streaming platform is showing more than 50 key games across the tournament, including crucial knockouts and the final on July 19. Prime Video also offers a catch-up service with full games on-demand, allowing members to watch the games that played overnight.

There’s a dedicated highlights platform too, recapping the best bits of every game – including those originally shown on BBC – plus a daily highlights show and classic matches, making Prime Video the one stop shop for the World Cup. All of this can be streamed on devices such as smart TVs, smartphones, tablets or laptops, so football fans can take the World Cup with them on their daily commute or on holiday.

World Cup fans can access Prime Video’s World Cup coverage without paying a penny with a seven-day free trial of ITVX Premium. Those signing up today would also be able to stream England’s game in the round of 32 at no extra cost, as well as other must-see knockout games.

Prime Video is offering live and on-demand games from the FIFA World Cup for free with a seven-day trial of ITVX Premium.

After the promotional period, ITVX Premium will automatically renew at the usual £5.99 per month until cancelled. It’s also worth noting that certain programmes may not be available to watch outside of the UK.

Alternatively, BBC is also showing a share of the World Cup games across BBC One, BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. Elsewhere, Kitbag is knocking 25% off a host of retro England shirts including the iconic 1990 Third Shirt.

Shoppers can reduce this to £30 (was £40) with the code GOAL, which also applies to the 1982 Home Shirt. England’s progression from the World Cup group stage is all-but confirmed as they head into the Panama game.

The Three Lions won 6-1 when the sides last met at the 2018 World Cup, which saw Harry Kane score a hat-trick. Fans will be hoping to see more attacking football following their frustrating 0-0 draw against Ghana.

For those tuning into the game on Prime Video’s ITVX channel, World Cup viewers have been praising ITV’s coverage. Writing on X, one said: “ITV [is] in a different league. It’s not even close.”

Another said: “ITV coverage of the World Cup has been great and the highlights are amazing.”

However, the same fan questioned the commentator choices, adding: “Why for the matches we can’t watch live are you having the best commentators like Drury, Alan Smith but on prime time matches where we watch live, it’s Dixon.”

While another said: “ITVs coverage has really been much better than BBC for this tournament.”
