Drunken England supporters sparked ‘mayhem’ in a massive street fight outside Wetherspoons, leaving the establishment’s management rattled about the 5am licence extension.
The country was recently given the exciting announcement that the government is permitting pubs and bars to remain open for the upcoming England fixture. Because of the US time difference, the round of 16 clash begins at 1am, with boozers permitted to stay open until 5am on Monday (July 6).
Nevertheless, after recent behaviour from some rowdy Three Lions supporters, one pub will be especially cautious about who they allow inside. The Jubilee Oak in Crawley saw chaotic scenes after England’s triumph over DR Congo on July 1, as reported by NeedToKnow.
Football fans who were viewing the match at the Wetherspoons lost their cool as they poured onto the street scrapping.
The troublemakers were reportedly a group of three agitated women who traded punches before one was brought down to the ground.
Numerous punters rushed to the area trying to break up the altercation – with one bloke seen grabbing one of the women on the pavement.
Shortly after, the trio were back at it again fighting on the high street as a large crowd tried to pull them apart.
This quickly turned into an all-out brawl, with one man sporting an England flag as a cape trying to play peacemaker but soon becoming embroiled in the scuffle himself.
The video has left members of the public feeling unnerved ahead of the extended licensing hours into the early morning of Monday, confirmed on Thursday.
One individual commented: “Going to be mighty craic on Monday, pubs open until 5am. The kids will get some education on the journey into school.”
Another added: “England at it’s finest. Totally embarrassed to watch that and think this is my nation.”
A further person remarked: “Football is nothing without a proper patriotic brawl.”
One individual quipped: “Countries lost, even England man flying in his cape couldn’t save the day.”
