Beau Greaves prompts incredible reaction as she hits first female nine-darter in PDC history

Beau Greaves became the first female to land a nine-darter in PDC history at Players Championship 6 in Leicester, hitting a perfect finish in the third leg against Mensur Suljovic

Beau Greaves etched her name into darts folklore on Wednesday afternoon by becoming the first woman in PDC history to achieve a nine-darter.

The 22-year-old was in scintillating form against Mensur Suljovic at the Players Championship 6 in Leicester, producing the perfect finish in the third leg of their encounter.

Having edged past Chris Landman 6-5 in the opening round, ‘Beau n Arrow’ set her sights on defeating former major champion Suljovic.

Following consecutive maximum 180s, Greaves completed a 141 checkout via T20, T19 and D12 to secure her place in darting history.

Despite achieving something no woman had accomplished before, Beau remained composed in her celebrations – merely allowing herself a knowing smile upon returning from the board to see Suljovic respectfully bowing toward her.

The PDC commentary team, however, displayed far more excitement.

As the D12 found its target, one commentator said: “Beau Greaves, it’s perfection. Absolutely incredible.

“Suljovic takes a bow, but it’s Beau Greaves that’s stealing the show. With a shake of the head, she can’t believe what’s just happened.

Leading just 2-1 at that point in the race to six legs, Greaves eventually prevailed 6-5 in a thrilling encounter to progress to the last 32 of the tournament.

She will now face David Sharp on Wednesday afternoon. It isn’t the first time this year that Greaves has etched her name into the record books.

The Doncaster ace grabbed the spotlight by becoming the maiden woman to progress to the last 16 of a ProTour event at the Players Championship 1 earlier this month, sharing the feat with Lisa Ashton.

At the Hildesheim tournament, she secured victories against Jimmy van Schie, Owen Bates and Cam Crabtree to advance to the fourth round.

Sadly, Greaves then endured a 6-2 defeat to Nathan Aspinall, denying her a quarter-final berth.

A three-time WDF World Championship victor, Greaves will be eager to secure her maiden major PDC crown in 2026.

Her stint at the 2023 PDC World Championship ended prematurely in the opening round following a 3-0 reverse to William O’Connor, while Luke Humphries defeated her 10-7 in the fourth round of last year’s UK Open.

Greaves has also yet to advance beyond the group phase of a Grand Slam of Darts in her developing career thus far, and will be determined to alter that this year.
