Brits are bracing for blizzard-like conditions in just days, as a ‘Beast from the East’ storm threatens to bring snow and freezing temperatures to 31 cities.

Vast areas of the nation are set to experience snow blizzards early next month on Wednesday, March 11, according to advanced weather maps by WXCharts. The northern regions – Scotland and northern England – are expected to be covered whilst other locations such as the Midlands could also turn white by the second week of March.

Snow showers could also descend across regions in the south west of England, including Bristol and Bath, as well as London and the south – where between 2 to 4cm of snow could fall. During this period, temperatures are expected to nosedive across the nation, and could drop to as low as -4C.

According to the most recent predictions, sections of Wales, the Midlands, and northern England could turn white at various times, alongside other regions.

Snow could also appear in the North West of England and Northern Ireland in the early hours of March 11, reports the Mirror.

A Met Office long-range forecast for early March reads: “changeable conditions are expected, with Atlantic frontal systems spreading across the UK, interspersed with drier and brighter interludes”. “Rainfall will typically be heaviest in the northwest, with much less reaching sheltered eastern areas. Some parts of the southeast may be largely fine.

Across high ground in the north, some snow is possible at times. Winds will probably be strong at times, with a risk of gales. Temperatures are likely to be near to or slightly above average,” the forecast adds.
