Manchester United are weighing up attacking options to bolster their squad with Marcus Rashford at Barcelona, as doubts emerge over one star

Manchester United suffered a massive Champions League setback on Monday evening as they were stunned by bitter rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford.

However, the Red Devils might already have one eye on the summer, and a robust finish to the season would enable United to provide additional incentives to whatever player they recruit to replace Marcus Rashford.

Rashford is still anticipated to join Barcelona on a permanent basis following his season-long loan spell, while there also needs to be alterations in midfield, with Casemiro departing when his deal runs out and Manuel Ugarte potentially heading for the exit too.

Fabio Capello raises Rafael Leao doubts

Former England boss Fabio Capello has voiced concerns about Rafael Leao while discussing the Portugal international’s current club, AC Milan, reports the Mirror.

Leao has been linked with United and several of their Premier League counterparts previously as a wide attacking option but struggled in a central role as Milan suffered defeat to Udinese at the weekend.

“I’ve said it many times: I’m not convinced he is a centre-forward,” Capello told La Gazetta dello Sport (as translated by Sempre Milan). “But beyond his role, it seems to me that he just doesn’t have the ability to play like he once did.

“When he was moved to left wing in the second half, his favourite position, he almost never went one-on-one. He was the symbol of a Milan team that was lacking in pace.”

Iliman Ndiaye is another player linked with a potential Old Trafford move. The Senegal international has caught the eye at Everton and former Toffees legend Gareth Barry has provided the club with some counsel regarding retaining his services.

“He’s really, really exciting to watch, so I completely understand the interest he’s going to get,” Barry told Goal.

“But, I think Everton need to keep him happy, need to keep him at the club, because those players don’t come along too often. Everton, where they are at the minute, they’re going to struggle to attract that type of player.

“It’s a big time for Everton to look at him and keep him happy, try and keep him on the books, and try and improve. Everton with [David] Moyes, try and see if they can kick on again next year. It’s been a great season so far this year going into their new stadium. Keep players like that and they need to kick on again.”

Fresh target surfaces Besiktas forward

Oh Hyeon-gyu has been identified as a potential target for Manchester United, according to Turkish media reports. However, Premier League competitors Tottenham could yet throw a wrench in the plans.

Oh, 25, has netted six goals in just nine league matches since transferring to the Istanbul team from Genk in the winter. Two of those goals were scored over the weekend in a 4-2 triumph over Antalyaspor, leaving Besiktas fourth and in prime position for Conference League qualification.

The most recent reports suggest there has been no communication between the clubs as yet, but hint that former Spurs striker Son Heung-min could sway his South Korea team-mate’s next decision.

Oh found the back of the net four times for his nation in World Cup qualifying as they topped their group and will now face Mexico, South Africa and the Czech Republic over the summer.
