Stars from the first series of Virgin Island are reuniting for a special episode
Recognisable faces from the debut series of Virgin Island are coming together for a one-off reunion special.
The Channel 4 reality programme broadcast its inaugural season last year, presenting audiences with an innovative therapeutic approach that witnessed 12 virgins getting intimate with their mentors – and one another – while trying to boost their confidence.
From the 12 participants featured in the opening series, only one went the full distance with sex surrogate Kat Slade. The private encounter was filmed, sparking a wave of stunned responses from audiences at the time, reports the Mirror.
“Virgin Island isn’t actually that bad but I still can’t get my head around an actual sex surrogate that then ultimately has sex with the client. It baffles me,” one Channel 4 viewer commented.
Meanwhile another branded it “uncomfortable,” stating they “only lasted 20 mins and had to turn it off.”
Despite audience astonishment, the programme will return for a second series on April 27, featuring 12 fresh adults diving straight into the groundbreaking intimacy retreat.
When does the Virgin Island reunion episode air?
Prior to the new series launching, recognisable faces from the first will reunite for a special catch-up episode. It will be accessible to stream on Channel 4’s on-demand platform from Monday, April 20.
Amongst the returning personalities is accountant Dave, the previously mentioned participant who lost his virginity on the programme. He had earlier disclosed that the entire cast was required to sever contact with the show’s coaches.
“It was explained very clearly to us that you don’t stay in touch after – it’s sort of two weeks, and that’s it and then you move on,” he disclosed to the Daily Mail.
He will be accompanied on the reunion episode by former Season 1 co-stars Taylor and Jason, though the rest of the cast are noticeably absent from the line-up.
Channel 4’s summary for the reunion teases: “To coincide with the launch of Series 2, Dave, Taylor and Jason make an emotional return to Virgin Island, where they reflect on their journeys so far and the breakthroughs and setbacks they’ve faced.”
Virgin Island: The Reunion is available to stream on Channel 4’s catch-up service from April 20. Meanwhile Season 2 will premiere on the channel at 9pm on April 27.
