An influencer known as “Katy Mazorca” was found dead a day after being reported missing and posting a final video on TikTok, with her boyfriend and two others arrested

A 20-year-old influencer has been found dead after being allegedly stabbed following one last heartbreaking final video. Her boyfriend and two other suspects were consequently arrested.

The lifeless body of Honduran TikTok creator Katerin Mejía Argueta, known online as “Katy Mazorca”, was found on Thursday (April 16), in Tocoa, in the country’s Colón department. She had been reported missing by relatives the previous night, and local media said her family later identified her after the discovery.

Police reportedly said her body was located in a remote palm plantation near the Aguán River. Moreover, initial forensic information reported locally suggested she had suffered fatal injuries to her neck and showed visible signs of torture, prompting officers to treat the case as a serious and urgent inquiry.

Honduras’ National Police later announced that three people had been detained in connection with the killing. Local reports identified one of the suspects as her boyfriend, Adonis Martínez, who allegedly told local media he had been “forced” to kill her by a criminal gang, claiming both he and Mejía Argueta were abducted earlier that day and that he acted under duress.

Martínez added: “I want to confess everything, I was forced to do things I didn’t want to do.

“If I didn’t do what they told me, they were going to kill me.”

Authorities have not publicly confirmed the full circumstances of that account and the investigation into motive remains ongoing, TuNota reported.

Detectives have also examined whether Mejía Argueta may have been lured to the area through a fraudulent “job offer” linked to social media content creation, a tactic that has been reported in some gang-related crimes.

Investigators have additionally been scrutinising her recent online activity, including a final TikTok video posted on the day she died, for potential clues about her movements and contacts.

Her death prompted an outpouring of tributes online and renewed scrutiny of violence against women in the region, with local reporting linking the case to a broader rise in attacks in Colón.

Mejía Argueta was buried on Saturday (April 18) in Tocoa, as mourners and followers shared messages in her memory using her nickname, “Katy Mazorca”, the Sun reported.

Mejía Argueta had built a following for upbeat dance videos, and her final TikTok post, filmed on the day she died, according to reports, showed her dancing to Sean Paul’s I’m Still in Love with You, accompanied by a caption about finding someone who values her despite being “complicated”.
