Liverpool fans have mocked Everton’s tifo ahead of the first Merseyside derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton welcomed their bitter rivals to their new stadium for the first time in the Premier League on Sunday. And to mark the occasion, Toffees supporters group 1878 unveiled a tifo in the south stand.
It had been leaked online in the days leading up to the clash, sparking debate on social media as it used an edited photo of The Beatles holding a blue and white scarf. A handful of Liverpool fans slammed the edited picture.

However, others incorrectly claimed The Beatles had been Liverpool fans, Paul McCartney opened up about his allegiances when speaking to Wired.
“That’s a long story. My dad was born in Everton, which is the other Liverpool team. So officially, I’m an Everton fan, because that’s our family team.
“But I knew the players and the managers of Liverpool years ago, and they did so great, and they were big fans of mine. So I’m a Liverpool and an Everton fan. I know it’s not strictly allowed, but I got special dispensation.”
“These lots treat a regular league derby match as UCL final lmao. Proper small club mentality,” one fan said.
“No idea why they thought it was a good design to make it look like the liver building has been shoved down the bog,” a second posted. As a third shared: “Such an insecure football club…”
And another added: “You building something doesn’t mean you own it!”
