Coronation Street fans are convinced they know who killed Theo Silverton after he was finally confirmed as the Weatherfield murder victim in a dramatic flashforward scene

Coronation Street viewers reckon they’ve cracked a massive “plot twist” regarding who murdered Theo Silverton after he was finally unveiled as the Weatherfield killing victim.

It was back in February during a flashforward episode of the ITV soap that the abuser was confirmed as one of five potential victims of a death destined to shake the cobbles, alongside Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh and Maggie Driscoll.

At the time, Betsy Swain was shown being questioned by police after stumbling upon the corpse of someone she recognised.

The stunned teenager was heard revealing that she had attended her mum, Lisa Swain, and Carla Connor’s wedding, and that it was when she chose to venture into town that she made the grisly find.

As viewers are aware, Lisa and Carla’s special day actually occurred on April 23. Nevertheless, there was some bewilderment as to why Betsy’s shriek was audible, though mistaken for ‘foxes’ by her new stepmother, yet she wasn’t witnessed discovering the murder victim as shown in the flashforward episode, reports the Manchester Evening News.

That was because Corrie was preparing a week’s worth of drama, which has since seen audiences revisiting the same day, with each instalment of the long-running programme viewed from the perspective of a different potential victim, before the major revelation on Friday (May 1).

During Monday’s (April 27) episode of Corrie, violating the terms of an order to keep away from his husband, Todd Grimshaw, who courageously contacted police after enduring domestic abuse at his partner’s hands for months, Theo was far from happy to discover Todd at their flat, preparing to depart for Thailand.

Following a confrontation in the flat, which saw George Shuttleworth assisting Todd’s getaway, despite being struck by the villain himself. But as officers turned up, Theo managed to flee, only to corner Todd once again. Fortunately, George Shuttleworth turned up just in time and succeeded in calming the situation.

However, that wasn’t the conclusion. Despite taking a blow from Theo himself, George launched his next scheme by feigning a leg cramp before he lunged from his chair towards Theo, successfully dragging him into the bathroom while Todd secured a dressing gown cord around the handle to prevent his exit, giving the duo time to get away.

But as the constabulary appeared, Theo managed to slip away, and later, as night fell, he located Todd once more. The funeral director had climbed into a taxi to head to the airport for his journey, only to realise he had left behind his phone.

He halted the taxi and requested the driver wait while he returned to retrieve it, only to find Theo confronting him on the poorly lit street, clutching his missing phone. The next time we witnessed them was during Friday’s instalment, when Todd engaged in a perilous game of cat-and-mouse to outwit a vindictive Theo.

Todd succeeded in concealing himself, and he rang Christina Boyd to inform her and George about what had occurred. It wasn’t long before Christina departed to locate him, cautioning George to remain at the house.

Meanwhile, Summer Spellman found herself trapped in the midst when she encountered a menacing Theo, who compelled her to surrender her phone, which he then hurled out of the window. Shortly after, outside, a cheerful Betsy received the fright of her life as she discovered the villain’s motionless body.

With no obvious clue as to how he met his demise, Corrie viewers have been swift to share their theories online and some believe a major ‘plot twist’ could be on the cards when it comes to Theo’s killer. Alongside a clip of Christina, one fan said: “Hope it’s this queen that went and took Theo out… and gets away with it! She clocked his a** from day one! #Corrie #CoronationStreet.”

A second predicted: “Ok so I think was Christina! Well Summer and Christina, but I think she makes the fatal blow! #corrie.” @crnlse23 wrote: “Right, that’s it…. I’ve convinced myself Christina is the one to blame for Theo’s #Corrie.” A third person posted: “I really love George and Todd relationship but I’m scared about Christina now…. Too long to find Todd #Corrie.” Someone else wrote: “Christina killed Theo when she went to look for Todd.”

A fifth social media wrote: “What if christina heard whatever might have happened with summer and theo and she came to her rescue bc surely george’s jumper is a red herring.” @teebeanee insisted: “Didn’t need to do a murder mystery for Theo really did they… but who got him. pls don’t make my Georgie or Christina a killer #Corrie.” A sixth emarked: “I have 3 suspects as to who killed off theo and my top one is christina!!!”. Another added alongside a picture of Christina: “I’d love it if it turns out that she ended Theo and just…gets away with it. Diva behaviour.”

Coronation Street airs weeknights on ITV1 at 8.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
