Laís Gabriela Barbosa da Cunha, 27, allegedly stabbed hairdresser Eduardo Ferrari, 29, in the back with a knife after he refused to give her a refund for a ‘bad haircut’
A woman has been arrested after allegedly pulling a knife from her handbag and stabbing a hairdresser over a “bad haircut.”
Shocking CCTV footage reveals Laís Gabriela Barbosa da Cunha looming over the stylist as he attended to another customer. With his back to her, she whipped out a knife from her handbag and plunged it between his shoulder blades.
Two guys immediately leapt into action, restraining Da Cunha while Eduardo Ferrari spun around in disbelief. Realising what had transpired, he bolted towards the exit in a state of panic. The assault occurred in São Paulo, Brazil, on Tuesday (5 May).
The disagreement started back in 7 April, when Da Cunha, 27, visited the salon for a highlighting and texturizing treatment. Staff said she seemed pleased with the outcome upon leaving and even lauding the procedure on social media.
But days later she began bombarding the salon with complaints and demanding a refund and allegedly threatening to “set fire” to Eduardo, 29. Da Cunha was informed there would be no refund as the procedure had been executed “as agreed” – but the grievances continued.
In a video online, she claimed the treatment had left her resembling comic-book character Jimmy Five, known in Portuguese as Cebolinha. In the clip she said: “He took my hair and just hacked away at it with thinning scissors. As you can see, my fringe looks like Cebolinha’s.”
When she showed up uninvited at the salon on Tuesday, she demanded an immediate refund. The building’s doorman was summoned to assist in removing her due to the disruption she was creating – just moments before the stabbing occurred.
Following the assault, one member of staff managed to disarm her. Eduardo subsequently underwent medical assessment, which revealed the injury to be minor.
Personnel later informed police Da Cunha screamed Eduardo “would die one way or another” unless she received her refund and allegedly vowed to employ someone to murder him. The woman also admitted to the assault and acknowledged making homophobic slurs towards Eduardo prior to the incident.
Eduardo later issued a statement reading: “Our legal team is following the case closely and taking the necessary steps, as the police classified the incident as minor assault.
“We cannot normalise or remain silent about situations like this. Attempted murder is an extremely serious crime and must be treated accordingly.
“We will also be carrying out a full review of our security arrangements, including looking for new premises with stronger security and better protection measures to ensure the safety of Edu and our entire team.”
