Coronation Street Daniel’s new love interest ‘unveiled’ and fans ‘won’t see it coming’

Coronation Street has appeared to hint at a new romance on the cobbles for Daniel Osbourne

Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne has had a tumultuous time on the cobbles lately.

After a string of failed relationships with the likes of Bethany Platt and Daisy Midgeley, and of course the heartbreaking death of his wife Sinead Tinker in 2019, Daniel has struggled to find everlasting love on the cobbles.

Just last year, an optimistic Daniel struck up a romance with Megan Walsh. However, Daniel didn’t realise that the sinister teacher was only using him to keep her sick and inappropriate relationship with teenage student Will Driscoll a secret.

After learning the truth, as well as the fact Megan had terminated the baby she was carrying which could have been either Daniel or Will’s, Daniel has been left feeling very bitter against the world.

Just earlier this week, Daniel found himself in a confrontation with student Hope Stape. Daniel suspected that Hope had cheated with her poem and used AI to which she retaliated with a snide remark about Megan.

Hope was ordered to write another poem to which she made one up about Daniel’s relationship with Megan. A furious Daniel tried to grab the paper out of Hope’s hand to which she accused him of assault.

After Mrs Crawshaw got involved, Daniel has been suspended pending further investigation and he couldn’t contain his fury on Friday’s episode. After his outburst scared son, Bertie, Daniel told dad Ken Barlow and Adam Barlow that he was heading to the Lakes to clear his head for a few days.

The duo agreed to watch Bertie but it was soon revealed that Daniel is just spending the week in the flat drowning his sorrows with whisky.

However, this looks to change next week as a new potential romance has been teased in spoilers. After Jodie Ramsey finds herself homeless on the cobbles, she overhears Ken talking about Daniel’s holiday and forms a plan.

Later in the week, Jodie lets herself into Daniel’s flat and comes face-to-face with the teacher. Jodie makes out that she found his spare key on the pavement and was simply returning it.

However, Daniel’s disbelieving and orders her out. When Jodie threatens to tell his family that he isn’t in the Lakes and explains that she’s nowhere else to go, it appears Daniel gives in as later in the week Jodie looks out for Daniel.

As the week ends, Jodie reminds Daniel that he’s supposed to be back from his holiday and it’ll do him good to get back to normal.

Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers have predicted there could be a romance storyline on the cards. One person said: “Daniel and Jodie have potential to be a weird and wonderful new duo. Two broken souls orbiting each other. #Corrie.”

Meanwhile, Corrie boss Kate Brooks recently told The Mirror that it’s the start of a storyline that sees them lean on each other during their separate turmoil

Kate said: “Jodie’s story will dovetail off into Daniel’s story as well. An unlikely little friendship will be formed, which I don’t think many people see coming, but it’s a really different insight into what makes them both tick.

“For the first time, Daniel’s able to be truthful about how he feels. And similarly, Jodie’s able to be quite truthful with Daniel, because he’s in a quite a dark place. There’s some interesting dynamics between them.”

It remains to be seen whether it leads to more or just stays as a friendship…
