The Eurovision Song Contest is back with the 2026 competition taking place in Vienna, Austria, but Sweden’s singer Felicia had an issue during her semi-final performance
Sweden’s Eurovision Song Contest entry suffered issues with their costume just moments into their routine.
Performer Felicia took to the stage in Vienna during the first round of two semi-finals on Tuesday night (May 12) to deliver her energetic track My System, sporting a black sparkly mask concealing the lower portion of her face.
But things seemingly went wrong during the song. When the lights went down and she reappeared, Felicia was sporting oversized spectacles but the mask had vanished.
She carried on performing as though nothing had occurred, but BBC presenters Angela Scanlon and Rylan Clark admitted that this wasn’t meant to take place.
Scanlon said: “That’s a bit of a wardrobe malfunction on the old glasses, isn’t it? She let the mask slip too, this is all a bit of an exclusive, we didn’t see this in rehearsal.” Clark jokingly chipped in: “I’m just happy she’s got a mouth! I didn’t know if she had one or not.”
Despite the costume blunder, supporters were still thoroughly enjoying Felicia’s act. Someone commented on X: “I think #Norway (in Thursday’s semi final) is my favourite, but that #Sweden performance was something else…What a tune!
“Sweden was damn good, will definitely qualify!”, a second commented as another described it as a “pure dance banger”. A fellow viewer added: “Sweden is the queen and king when it comes to Eurovision, they don’t play it lightly.”
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 saw 15 nations in each semi-final battle for their spot in the legendary grand final this Saturday, May 16, on BBC One. The leading 10 nations from each semi-final will join the five pre-qualified countries – France, Germany, Italy, the UK, and last year’s winner, Austria – on the evening of the grand final.
Sweden were among the 10 countries that qualified. The others were Croatia, Moldova, Greece, Finland, Israel, Belgium, Lithuania, Poland and Serbia.
Eurovision 2026 is being held in Vienna, Austria, after 24-year-old JJ claimed the coveted trophy last year with his performance of Wasted Love.
Presenting the show and the remaining semi-finals on BBC One and BBC iPlayer are Rylan Clark and Angela Scanlon, with Graham Norton stepping in to helm the final on Saturday evening.
