Eurovision viewers are convinced Delta Goodrem will make history for Australia

The Eurovision Song Contest’s 2026 winner has already been ‘revealed’, and fans are convinced history could be made.

Australia has never secured a winner in its 11 years taking part in the international singing competition. Yet supporters are certain that streak will end in Vienna on Saturday evening as they were left speechless by pop royalty Delta’s rendition of Eclipse.

The 41 year old took to the stage as the eighth act of the evening in the Austrian capital, with UK commentator Graham Norton holding sky-high hopes. The presenter declared Delta would be the performer to overcome before her appearance, reports the Liverpool Echo.

She absolutely delivered on those expectations as she unleashed a stunning performance that captivated the thousands watching. Graham noticed the audience’s reaction and hinted Delta would be difficult to surpass.

He said: “If the audience could crown a winner right now, they would give it Australia. I hope her star power doesn’t go against her.”

Social media users on platform X shared identical sentiments as they declared the thunderous response in the venue was a clear indicator that Delta will triumph. Tom added: “SHE HAS WON SURELY! Go on Delta!”

Dari said: “AUSTRALIA YES CHILLS MY GIRL IM CRYING SHES GORGEOUS AND DESERVES TO WIN.” ESCVikiing posted: “The audience is going crazy after Australia”

Freddie posted: “my dad sat next to me just said “wow might as well just give the trophy to her now” YESSSSSSSSS DELTA WE LOVE YOU.”

Ciara wrote: “just give delta the trophy now!” Jack wrote: “Delta Goodrem, in a fair world – YOU are the winner. Off the charts. INCREDIBLE flawless. She has to win. PLEASE.”

Another viewer stated: “Australia is absolutely insanely good this year. Their best so far in history. I think this one wins tonight!”

Despite not being a European nation, Australia has taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest 10 times since making its debut in 2015.

Australia’s Special Broadcasting Service, commonly referred to as SBS, maintains associate membership of the European Broadcasting Union. The broadcaster began screening the Eurovision Song Contest in 1983 and has aired the event annually ever since.

Australia’s involvement in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 was originally intended as a one-off appearance, with a comeback only feasible if the nation secured victory.

However, in November 2015, SVT revealed that Australia would make a return in 2016, and the country has been a permanent fixture in the competition ever since.
