EXCLUSIVE: In the interest of journalistic integrity, the Daily Star has spoken to on the UK’s leading baking experts about Venezuela Fury’s rather gigantic wedding cake
Venezuela Fury, Tyson and Paris Fury’s 16-year-old daughter, tied the knot in a lavish ceremony on Saturday, with Molly-Mae Hague sharing a series of incredible scenes of the reception . . . including a towering six-tier blue cake.
While the wedding was seen by many as the “wedding of the year,” the rather large cake has become a major talking point. And in the interest of journalistic integrity, the Daily Star has spoken to on the UK’s leading baking experts on the giant blue beast and whether or not a cake that size is going to be the next big thing.
Ojay Rahman, Head of Product and In-house Cake Expert at Cake Box called the cake a “pure showstopper” but at 12 feet tall, it was not just there to serve dessert – “it was there to create a moment, dominate the room and give guests something they would be talking about long after the speeches were over,” he said.
He told us: “That kind of ‘all-eyes-on-me’ cake is a big trend with 2026 brides. With the average UK wedding now costing an average of £20,604, many couples are making sharper choices about where they want to spend for maximum impact. A dramatic cake can do a lot of heavy lifting visually, because it works as décor, a photo backdrop and a talking point all at once.”
Citing the new trend of wedding desserts getting a “personality upgrade,” he pointed to data that shows searches for“pink and red vintage cake” are up 415%, “whimsical cupcakes” are up 380% and “illusion cakes” are up 215%, suggesting couples are putting far more emphasis on cakes that feel distinctive, decorative and memorable.
He went on: “But you do not need a 12-foot cake to get the same wow factor. Statement details like rich chocolate finishes, pearl decoration, vintage piping, fresh berries, floral cupcakes and bold rose designs can all make a cake table feel special. Often, it is those details, rather than sheer size alone, that make a display look expensive and considered.
“Couples should think about the whole scene, not just the sponge. Height, colour, florals, symmetry and styling all help make a cake display feel intentional. Small things like a raised stand, coordinated cupcakes or a strong all-round theme can make even a more modest cake table command the room.
“So, while Venezuela’s wedding cake was firmly in jaw-dropping territory, the takeaway for other couples is simple – you do not need celebrity scale to create a memorable cake moment. With the right decorative details and a bit of smart styling, you can still get something that feels polished, photo-ready and properly special.”
