The body of Declan Sawyer was found by Lincolnshire Police’s dive team at Swanholme Lakes in Lincoln on Sunday evening

Police have released a heartbreaking update after searching for a 15 year old boy who disappeared after entering the water after entering a lake.

The body of Declan Sawyer was discovered by Lincolnshire Police’s dive team at Swanholme Lakes, Lincoln on Sunday evening, May 24.

Officers were called to the scene at 2.30pm in the afternoon, following reports of the youngster getting into difficulty in the water.

The force said: “Our thoughts are with his family and we send our condolences at this incredibly difficult time.

“This is such a sad incident that will no doubt also affect many of Declan’s friends and the local community as well.”

Officers added that as half-term begins, they urge anyone who requires support to seek assistance.

The spokesperson said: “As we are starting half-term week, we ask our community to make sure that anyone affected is looked after and that people are encouraged to seek help and support where they need it.

“Again, we respectfully ask that people do not speculate or share information that has not come from an official source as inaccurate information can be very upsetting to family and friends.”

Emergency services, including the Under Water Search Team assisted with the search.

The area has been sealed off since the teenager vanished and the public were urged to stay away from the location.
