Denise Van Outen once left her knickers at her famous ex-boyfriend’s house, but was later horrified as she discovered his dog was munching on her used underwear. She previously dated Jay Kay, lead singer of Jamiroquai, known for his hits Cosmic Girl and Virtual Insanity.
The pair dated for roughly three years from 1998 and were even engaged at one point. In her book A Bit Of Me: From Basildon to Broadway and Back, Denise detailed their sex life and explained how they spent an entire weekend at Jay’s eleven-bedroom house for their second date.
The TV presenter had to be up at 3am to host The Big Breakfast the next morning, which meant she had to look for her knickers in the dark while trying to get ready.
Denise wrote: “When the alarm went off in the middle of the night, it didn’t feel like such a good idea, however, it was too late by then. So, sometime after 3am on Monday, I was crawling around Jay’s bedroom floor, rooting around in the dark for my bits and pieces so as not to wake him up.”
“It was then that I remembered I’d left my knickers somewhere, but for the life of me, I couldn’t see them. Of course, I knew I had to locate them. I mean, I couldn’t leave Jamiroquai’s house knowing I’d left my dirty knickers there, could I?”
The TV presenter was worried about Jay’s Alsatian guard dog, who “slept outside his bedroom,” as she didn’t want to wake him up. However, after peeking through the door, she noticed the pup, Luga, was “preoccupied” with something.
She wrote: “As long as I could lay my hands on my discarded knickers, I could get past the hound and out of there without too much bother. As I moved closer to the landing outside the bedroom, however, it became horribly clear exactly what Luga had gotten so involved in. He had my knickers in his mouth. There he was, snuffling and chewing away at them at the top of the landing.”
She then ended up in a “tug of war” with Jay’s dog on the landing as she “pulled on one end of her knickers” while Luga “snarled and pulled the other”. Denise signed off: “Not the ending I’d imagined to my first romantic weekend with Jay.”
Denise then said whenever she went to Jay’s house after the tug of war incident, Luga would “jam his nose in her crotch”.
