Love Island’s Mica Harris and her famous family including Only Fools and Horses star

The newly-unveiled Love Island contestant has a very high-profile family behind her spanning the worlds of entertainment and politics

Love Island is about to kick off and one of the contestants boasts some rather impressive connections, with a family member from Only Fools and Horses and an aunt who serves as Barbados’ Prime Minister.

Mica Harris, 21, hails from Barbados but resides in London and comes from a family steeped in politics. It has emerged that Mica’s aunt is Mia Mottley, Barbados’ Prime Minister, while Mica’s grandfather and great-grandfather were also prominent political figures on the Caribbean island.

Mica has posted numerous photos of her family during visits to Barbados, including a celebration post when her aunt’s party secured a clean sweep of all 30 parliamentary seats. “Unbelievably proud,” Mica wrote alongside the triumphant announcement, reports the Mirror.

Mica’s mother and aunt are cousins with the late actress Eva Mottley, who was most famous for portraying Corinne, Denzil’s wife, in Only Fools And Horses.

Her character Corinne made her debut in an episode where Denzil (portrayed by Paul Barber) contacts Del Boy (David Jason), Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and Grandad (Lennard Pearce) to redecorate his flat.

During ‘Who’s a Pretty Boy?’, her character was far from thrilled about the Trotters’ arrival for the painting job, remarking about Del: “What the hell is he doing in my home.”

In that memorable episode, Del infamously swaps Corinne’s deceased canary with a replacement from a pet shop, wrongly believing the paint vapours had caused the bird’s untimely demise. This family link makes the late star Mica’s first cousin once removed. The pair would never have encountered Barbadian-born Eva as she ended her life in 1985 at the age of 31.

The TV star was also recognised for portraying Bella O’Reilly in the 1983 TV drama Widows and another part in Bergerac, she also had a minor role in the film Superman III. Throughout her short stint in the entertainment world, Eva was also rumoured to have been romantically linked with David Bowie for two years.

Before entering the villa, Mica has outlined her own preferences, saying: “Definitely someone that’s tall, I’m tall myself so I like to feel small. I like a little bit of a buffer, a bigger guy. The most important thing for me is personality. I just want someone that will make me laugh. I want to get along with someone.”

She also clarified precisely what she won’t tolerate: “I do not want a really egotistical, cringy man. That’s not my vibe at all. I can’t have someone who’s more into themselves then they are me. They need to be obsessed with me.”

Discussing her current romantic situation she revealed: “Honestly, it’s been quiet but it’s been peaceful. I’ve been trying to focus on myself and protect my peace. But as a strict programme for 2026, I’m not taking the b******t I used to.”

The 2026 cast for the programme was officially revealed this week, and amongst the participants are a detective, an electrician, a nurse, a quantity surveyor and DJ, a businessman, a school teacher, a real estate videographer, and a model.

The series is mere days from kicking off, with a new group of singletons set to try their luck at finding true love in the Majorcan villa during this summer of love, and ITV is going all out this year.
