Darrell Sheets tragically passed away last month after taking his own life, but questions have now been raised after the results of his post-mortem were released
Questions have been raised over why a Storage Wars legend decided to take his own life. It comes a month on after his tragic death.
Darrell, who was a much-loved star of the show, passed away last month, being found dead at the age of 67. The motive behind Darrell’s decision to take his own life is continuing to baffle his family.
The Storage Wars star had been found at his home in Lake Havasu City in Arizona on April 22. According to the local police force, the cause of death being “what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head”.
Now, the autopsy report following Darrell’s death has been released, which confirms that drugs were not present in his system when he decided to carry out the act. Toxicology reports showed no traces of cocaine, fentanyl, benzodiazepines or any other narcotic.
Darrell’s numerous tattoos also appeared to have no effect on him or his health, officials at the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office said. Among the various graphics he had inked on were a joker, a woman, a chequered flag and the number 58.
Examiners carrying out the post-mortem ultimately ruled that Darrell’s death was that of a suicide. Meanwhile, police are continuing to work out the motive for his death, reportedly looking into claims of cyberbullying.
According to local reports, Darrell had posted a number of chilling Facebook updates that he was the victim of a “cyber bully stalker” in the months leading up to his death. Police are still investigating this lead.
Meanwhile, son Brandon shared a heartbreaking tribute to his dad on what would have been his 68th birthday. He shared a number of pics of Darrell spending time with his family and friends in the post.
Writing in the caption on May 13, Brandon penned: “Happy Birthday Darrel. Thank you for raising me to be the man I am today.
“Wish that I could spend just one more day with you,” he added, while adding the ZZ Top hit Just Got Paid. “I love you dad and happy birthday − 5/13/1958 to 4/22/2026.”
Brandon had previously said earlier this month that he was left devastated by his dad’s passing, vowing to carry on his legacy and live in his father’s honour. He also thanked all for their concerns, but was unable to answer questions at such a hard time.
