Nick Pasqual, who shot to fame on shows like How I Met Your Mother, has been imprisoned after being convicted of attacking his ex-partner
A former How I Met Your Mother star has been sentenced to 32 years to life in prison after he was found guilty of attempting to murder his former girlfriend, makeup artist Allie Shehorn.
Nick Pasqual, 36, was convicted last month and was sentenced on Tuesday, June 2.. The assault took place in May 2024 and according to prosecutors, Pasqual forced entry into Shehorn’s California home and stabbed her more than 20 times.
He then fled the scene and attempted to escape to Mexico, but was apprehended at a US Border Patrol checkpoint in Texas shortly after the incident. The actor was later found guilty of attempted murder, rape, burglary, and domestic violence charges.
Makeup artist Allie, who had previously worked on Babylon, Mean Girls, and Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, had obtained a restraining order against Pasqual because the relationship had reportedly turned abusive. Shehorn delivered her testimony in court regarding the horrifying ordeal and recalled barricading herself in a bathroom attempting to flee.
“I locked the door, and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open,” she told the court, according to the Mirror. “I just ran into the bathroom because I thought there’s another lock on that door.”
A GoFundMe was established for Shehorn to assist with medical expenses, and detailed that she required breathing tubes and feeding tubes while she recovered in hospital.
District Attorney Nathan Hochman told Los Angeles County Superior Court: “Today’s 32 years to life sentence holds Nick Pasqual accountable for the horrific crimes he committed against someone who once loved and trusted him.
“He was found guilty of multiple felonies, including attempted murder and rape, spanning from January 2024 to May 23, 2024, when Mr. Pasqual broke into his estranged girlfriend’s home and stabbed her over 20 times. Allie Shehorn miraculously survived and courageously stood before her abuser in court to testify about the brutality she endured.
“Her trial testimony was crucial in securing a guilty verdict so Mr. Pasqual could no longer be free to hurt anyone else. Today at his sentencing, she gave a powerful victim impact statement.”
In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Pasqual said: “I remain deeply saddened by everything surrounding this case. And I continue to wish healing and peace for everyone affected.
“I am grateful to those who have supported me during this process. I intend to remain focused on sobriety, recovery, accountability, and a respectful appellate process moving forward.”
Pasqual’s television credits include a season 7 episode of How I Met Your Mother in 2011. Alongside a role in the Ashton Kutcher-led Steve Jobs biopic, Jobs, 44 episodes of the web sketch comedy show National Day Riff, and minor parts in Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire.
