Countryfile’s Adam Henson has shared his thoughts on fellow farmer Jeremy Clarkson and the impact Clarkson’s Farm has had on British agriculture and farming culture
Countryfile presenter Adam Henson has offered his perspective on fellow farmer Jeremy Clarkson, who operates a 1,000-acre farm in Chipping Norton. The former Top Gear host purchased the Oxfordshire property in 2008 and commenced farming operations in 2019, following the retirement of the previous tenant who had managed it.
The farm, famously dubbed Diddly Squat Farm, has achieved nationwide recognition and beyond through his hugely successful series Clarkson’s Farm on Prime Video. Jeremy has even established his own pub on the premises, called The Farmer’s Dog, which regularly appears in the show, now entering its fifth series.
Adam, himself a renowned farmer, recently discussed Jeremy’s influence on the agricultural community during an interview with The Oxford Mail. The BBC presenter remarked: “It seems to me from the people around him and from his own voice that he’s really found a passion in farming.
“He’s a great advocate for British agriculture, and he’s tied up with some great people who work on the programme with him.
“Clarkson’s Farm is very funny, it’s quite theatrical in the way it’s produced, but it’s brought agriculture and farming to a whole new section of society.”
The Countryfile star continued: “And for me as a farmer who loves telling the story about British agriculture, you’ve now got programmes like Countryfile and Clarkson’s Farm, you’ve got YouTubers, you’ve got people on Instagram.”
The 60-year-old presenter, who operates a 650-hectare farm in the Cotswolds, also expressed his admiration for anyone capable of “help educate the consumer and the British public” about farming culture, reports the Express.
Clarkson’s Farm made its return to screens earlier this month, and as usual, Jeremy doesn’t hold back from exposing the harsh truths of farm management.
Throughout this series, the 66 year old must undergo cardiac surgery at hospital and needs several weeks of recovery time. Meanwhile, his property suffers severe damage from a devastating storm, and he continues to struggle with the emotional toll of watching his livestock transported for slaughter.
Clarkson’s Farm is available to watch on Prime Video.
