Rick Astley wowed at Isle of Wight festival and revealed how pal Liam Gallagher made him sob recently plus the advice Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl has passed on

Pop legend Rick Astley can’t stop crying at gigs and admits even Liam Gallagher makes him blub.
The Never Gonna Give You Up star drew a huge crowd at the Isle Of Wight festival at the weekend and loves checking out other acts on big stages.
However, he has to bring the Kleenex with him as live music is making him emotional in his advancing years, and specially a certain Wonderwall.
Rick, 60, spilled: “I went to a few mega gigs last year. I went to see Bruce Springsteen in Milan. Second song in – I cry a lot more these days – and I wasn’t even p*****, but tears were streaming down my face.
“It really affected me.”
The same thing happened when he checked out the “epic” Oasis reunion in Manchester: “I felt like that at Oasis. Thank God they were great.
“Liam’s voice was fantastic, he nailed it.
“He’d punch my lights out for saying this, but I wondered if he could still do it, 25 years on. It’s a tall order.
“He did. He nailed us to the seats.
“I knew the band would be great, but for Liam to do what he did was amazing. I love leaving a gig thinking ‘music is f***ing great’.
“It’s inspirational, it’s gut wrenching, it makes you cry.”
Not often Liam makes people cry, apart from when he’s hurt Noel’s feelings.
Rick impressed on guitar and drums at IOW even playing a cover of Raye’s Where’s My Husband and announcing mid song “your husband is here!”

He had some good advice to offer up and coming acts, courtesy of a famous pal.
He added: “I don’t mean to name drop, but Dave Grohl (uncle Dave as everyone calls him) always gets asked for advice for younger musicians.
“I remember him saying just go and play. Play everywhere, all the time. If someone sees you, there’s a big chance they’ll come again.”
