- X Factor star Katie Waissel has been rushed to hospital with severe bacterial pneumonia.
- The 40-year-old singer revealed she was admitted as an emergency to St John and St Elizabeth Hospital in Central London after experiencing “excruciating” pain. She told fans: “It turns out I have severe bacterial pneumonia, so I’ve been rather unexpectedly residing in a hospital bed in Central London ever since.”
- Katie described the ordeal as one of “the most frightening and excruciatingly painful” experiences she had ever endured: “At one point, I was apparently far closer to the edge than I realised.”
- The star praised the hospital’s “extraordinary teams” for their care during her treatment: “The kindness, professionalism and compassion I’ve experienced has been nothing short of incredible.”
- Katie’s loyal fans flooded her social media with supportive messages after she shared her health update. One follower wrote: “Pneumonia is no joke!” while another said: “I’m so glad that you have recovered and are doing better!”
- This isn’t Katie’s first serious health scare – in 2021 she was rushed to hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack. She had to crawl down the stairs and dial 999 for help during that frightening episode.
