Former Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker dropped the bombshell while speaking to celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, saying they were now connected through their shared news

Gary Lineker has dropped a bombshell by making a major family announcement. He kept his comments short on the news, but confirmed he was “excited” for his loved ones.

The former Match of the Day presenter, 65, made the huge announcement that he is set to become a granddad for the first time. He broke the news to good pal and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

Chatting during the latest episode of the The Rest Is Football podcast, Gary could barely hold himself back as he beamed with smiles to reveal the news. Gordon said he was thrilled to share the connection.

Gary said in the podcast: “We’ve got something else in common – we’re both about to become grandparents for the first time. How exciting is that?!”

Gordon, 59, replied: “I am secretly petrified because until they can talk and communicate with you, you can’t do much. We’re not going to f****** breastfeed, are we?”

Former England striker Gary is a doting dad to four sons − George, 34, Harry, 32, Tobias 30, and Angus, 28. It is not known which of the four is currently planning to welcome their first child together with their partner.

Gary has been getting stuck in with his family in recent years, as the footballing great celebrated son Harry’s wedding to wife Annabelle in Ibiza last summer. He also used the opportunity to patch up his relationship with brother Wayne after they had a feud that lasted some 17 years.

Back in 2008, the rift began when Gary had been dating model Danielle Bux, whisking her off to the Spanish island for a family holiday. This caused issues between the brothers and led to over a decade of giving each other the cold shoulder.

When asked about his personal life, Gary told Louis Theroux on his BBC podcast: “I like being on my own. I’ve got so accustomed to it now and being slightly selfish, but unanswerable to anyone.”

While he insisted his kids are still his entire world, he admitted he thought he was “done” with romance. He added: “I don’t know, you never know, but I just can’t imagine actually living with someone again.”

But despite this, Gary still kept things light-hearted, saying that he might have to whip out a ‘big blue pill’ to satisfy his “physical needs”. He went on to say: “It might change, but you know, I love women’s company. I’ve got a lot of friends that I go out to dinner with.”
