One Weatherfield resident could be on borrowed time, according to Coronation Street fans
Fans of Coronation Street believe they’ve uncovered the death of a beloved character.
ITV soap viewers will know that Summer Spellman (played by Harriet Bibby) is the adopted daughter of Drew Spellman (Tom Godwin), who was later placed in her godfather Billy Mayhew’s (Daniel Brocklebank) care when Drew passed away.
Summer, who first appeared on the street back in 2017, initially struggled to come to terms with living with Billy and his then-partner, Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), but eventually found her way.
The youngster has been involved in several memorable storylines over the past few years, including a complex surrogate pregnancy, struggles with diabetes, and the deaths of both Billy and his husband Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).
More recently, Summer has been a suspect in Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright) murder investigation.
Theo, who inflicted abuse on his husband Todd for months, was found dead back in April, with six official suspects being named.
They were Gary Windass (Mikey North), George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), and Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson), as well as Todd and Summer, who even went to prison for a few weeks for the crime.
However, this week it was revealed that none of them had actually committed the crime, with Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) instead being unveiled as the murderer.
As Sarah continues to keep her secret, some viewers have shared their concerns for Summer after noticing some out of character behaviour. The youngster was seen getting drunk during this week’s tense dinner party, which ended in bloodshed.
That’s not all, as Summer has also been outlandishly spending money on her friends, and even agreed to go on a night out with a group of strangers.
Viewers are therefore predicting a possible death storyline involving Summer, which would rock the cobbles, particularly after Billy and Paul’s heartbreaking exits.
“So it looks like Summer’s going off the rails. Hitting the bottle every day, throwing her money around, and off partying with strangers. Where’s this storyline going?” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Someone else added on a Facebook fan page: “Does anyone else think they’re going to do an alcoholism storyline with Summer?”
A third said: “You could be right here? And with her diabetes too it could make her poorly again,” with another sharing: “I hope this isn’t the start of an exit plot that leads to her dying.”
A fifth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: “Could be her way out as large amounts of alcohol and type 1 diabetes can be fatal,” with someone else writing: “I’m worried that Summer is on a dangerous path.”
Coronation Street airs weekday nights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
